Default Any PSone games incompatible with the PSone dual shock?

In an effort to get rid of some extra junk, I came across a few regular playstation controllers. Any real reason why I would need them anymore? Was there a certain game that wouldn't work the the later dual shock controller?

    Thanks

Yep, a green Dual Shock which doesn't work well. And a regular Red one.

I think you had mentioned the Red one was a target exclusive? I'm not sure about getting rid of that one yet unless something good is offered.

The closest thing I know of is Descent, in which the game just doesn't work if you have the controller in analog mode. But, turn off analog mode and it works fine.

yeah there are a number of games like this, mostly earlier releases. if you turn off analog mode it works fine. so get rid of all those remotes, unless you prefer their feel.

If by work you mean have vibrate function etc, then pretty much all titles released before the DS came out don't work with analog mode. Even quite a few that came out after, ala Suikoden 2, don't work in analog, or have very limited support.

Descent does in fact have an analog mode but it requires the BIG twin grip PlayStation analog controller.

Not that I can think of. There are a small number of games that won't play w/o the Dual Shock though, but the other way around has never been an issue for anyone as far as i've heard.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

Ape Escape [great game, by the way] is the prime example of a PS game that needs the analog to work. A lot of other games play a lot better with it as compared to the buttons [think on Colony Wars] but it isn't a necessity.

There are plenty of reasons for keeping original PlayStation controllers around beyond compatibility. In my opinion, they feel better in my hands due to the grips not being stubby and fat like the Dual Shock, and I'm convinced the original D-pad is better (not noticeable with most titles, but with 2D fighters, it's a HUGE difference). Having opened up tons of PlayStation controllers, I'd say they're much better constructed and durable, as opposed to the Dual Shock which usually have shoddy wiring and lots of issues if they're not well maintained. And of course, they're lighter, which is always nice.

So unless a game supports analog and does a good job with it, I'll often opt to just use my original controllers (or I'll find myself using the D-pad exclusively on a Dual Shock, which seems rather pointless to me).

For the Fighters, i'd go for Saturn or use it on PS2 with an arcade stick.

You bring up some good points though, maybe I should try playing some pre dual shock games with a dual shock and see how that works out.

Thanks to everyone who posted, so far so good
