Default hats off to Activision customer support

i just wanted to say how impressed i am with Activision's customer service, i bought a copy of Blue Stinger for the Dreamcast not too long ago from Wal-mart, unfortunately it was one of the defective discs, a quick email to Activision and they responded by letting me know that if i sent back the old one, they'd send me another, the replacement is on it's way and i'm very impressed that they went out of their way to help me with my problem considering it's a 7 year old game from a console that's been dead for a few years, hats off to them for that and for keeping me informed with regular mail along the way. if only the stores that sell their goods had the same level of service.

Holy crap. I can't believe they'd still support the DC stuff. That, and a Wal-Mart still having the game. I had to check the date of this post make sure it was from today. How much was the game marked down to?

Ditto on this. Kudos to Activision.

Also, to add something to the thread, Capcom's service was superb multiple times from me. If you want Capcom products, buy direct.

well you know walmart's funny prices they use, i think it was $2.96 (that's cdn) they had a bunch of sports titles as well, for that matter so did TRU, up until a few months ago they still had games like sega gt and ready to rumble, and a few accesories and strategy guides.

The reason most stores dont offer a high level of customer
service on older products is due to the fact that in most cases
they already have these titles discounted BELOW what the
actually purchased the products for, thus not making great
sence to offer customer support that cost money in time and
wages for a product they are already losing money on,
    But anyways I rant.

congratualtions to Activision on this one though as I
know Activision in australia wont do anything remotely like
this in terms of high level customer service.

It is really cool though they do offer support for older games
as it gives them the reputation of being more of a gamers/gamer freindly company.
    zomg I have a sig

Used to be, not sure anymore, that a business/manufacturer in the US had to retain stock for any product's repair/replacement for the reasonable duration of the product's lifespan. This extended beyond the sales period of the actual product on the market for consumer rights, at least applicable to televisions, VCRs and other electronic entertainment gizmos in the 80s.

Nowadays it's often cheaper to buy a new device than get the old unit serviced, and importation of foreign goods usually exempts them from certain US laws.

But anyway, this probably ties in with what you experienced there in some form.

Should call and see if I can get some nice new shiny Atari 2600 games considering the crap glue they used to glue the label to the carts for the Atari 2600. The glue soaks through and blotches the labels after time, you all know what I mean. Any of these games... Pitfall, River Raid, Kaboom, Keystone Kapers, Grandprix, Chopper Command, Barnstorming, Freeway, Megamania

I wasn't so lucky with Capcom. I ordered some stuff and never received a thing. They also didn't respond to my emails. First and last transaction with them for me.
