Default Sega CD Version 1: No signs of life!! Can anyone help me?

    Hey y'all -

Bought a Sega CD (front loading version), and I get no signs of life. If there any way to tell if it's truly dead, or is there a way to test the sucker?

Please - no comments about the version 2 (pop-top) - it's completely different in design, and will not help me with this problem (at least I don't think so.)

Any help from those who have encountered and fixed problems with their Sega CD version 1, is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Steve

Anybody have any suggestions on the best way to clean the connector on the Sega CD side? I've tried doing this myself (on a version 2 CD) and it's hard to know if I had any success or not.

That's the common model 2 fix. Is it the same with the Sega CD 1?
