Default Xbox Live: Why the hell does EA need my credit card info?

If anyone has downloaded the Battlefield MC demo on Xbox Live, you'll notice that you have to "accept" EA's new legal TOS to play the demo. Towards the bottom of the fine print they say that clicking "accept" will allow EA to get your name, address, e-mail address, and credit card information from Xbox Live...WTF?

I understand the need for EA to request the usual spam-bait, but why in the hell do they need my credit card info? Have they been doing this with the sports titles on the 360 too?

    that's really scary.

I mean look at all the account break-in's that have been happening at major banks lately. I trust the crappiest bank more than I trust xbox live/EA

You think that's bad, don't play any EA PSP games online from Fight Night Round 3 and up.

You have to either give an email address or pay them $2.

I'd assume a fake would work just fine. It's such a stupidly transparent thing to do though on EA's part.

I think Fight Night Round 3 PS is the only one that does this so far.

I really wish that Microsoft didn't bend over backwards to kiss EA on the ass and beg them to make their sports games work on Xbox live. That is what all this shit comes from. EA has their own special deal, when you play EA games on Xbox or Xbox 360 on Live, you go to their special servers. Why? Cause they want to be "in control". They want to have personal control over their customers.

Normally, Microsoft would tell E.A. to kiss their ass, and to hell with them having their own control, but they were desperate at that point, and signed an agreement, just so that the next version of Madden on Xbox 1 would be Live enabled. They caved in. They surrendered to the mighty EA.

The stupidist thing about all of this, is that Microsoft actually had a chance a long time ago to buyout EA. When they were first getting into the business, they thought about it, but ultimately decided against it. They could have had EA back then for about twice what they paid for Rare. But now EA's value is so much higher that it would impossible for them to do it. I hate the fact that EA has their own seperate deal. Every time I see the words:

    'Connecting to EA Servers"

    I cringe.
