Default Sega Saturn System Disc...more info?

Awesome, awesome, awesome and lucky find. I bought a bunch of U.S. and Japanese Saturn games and what extra disc did I find in one of the Jap games? The Saturn System Disc. Here it is:

I've looked for info on the net and apparently this disc will let you play CD-R games. Unfortunately there are two versions and the black version will only let you play 3rd party games. The only game that I have on CD-R is Radiant Silvergun. Needless to say I've been dying to play it but I can't get it to work. Is this a first party Sega game? I know it is a Treasure game but was it released by Sega? Or could the problem be I'm not using a Jap Saturn so I also have to use the Pro Action Replay? Does anyone recognize the developer code on there?

Just a little update, I burned NBA Jam Extreme U.S. version and played it. The system disc works like a charm! The question still remains, am I unable to play Radiant Silvergun because it is a Sega release or because I'm using the Pro Action Replay?

You have to remember, the system discs are still reigon locked. You would need a jap saturn to play a jap game with the system disc. The action replay cart does something screwey with the system disc that makes it not work.

That's not what the Action Replay Plus 4M Auto cart does. What it's doing is injecting a Japanese BIOS into the system, you're trying to run a USA disc (the Saturn System Disc) so it won't run. Now if you use the System Disc in a US Saturn it will load but of course Radiant Silvergun won't because it's a JPN game. The reason the System Disc won't work with the AR cart is it's trying to shift to JPN mode to run the copy of Radiant Silvergun which has JPN coding. Daahh.. it's hard to explain clearly - apples and oranges?

In this case not even a hardmod switch will get around the problem since the System Disc needs to start in USA mode and the game would need to run in JPN mode.

So if I break out my Japanese Saturn (which is not at my house or I would have tried it already) and use this boot disc I should be able to play Silvergun? Or will the boot disc not run on the Jap Saturn because it is U.S. region coded?

    No, because...

And if you switched (with a hardmod) the JPN Saturn to US mode to load the boot disc, then it still wouldn't load the game because it would be in US mode.

Well, looks like it's time to sack up and buy a modchip.

Default Ok, and what about this? EA Overblood review disc

What another interesting find! I was poking around in some disc only Sega CD games I have and I came across this:

I guess the first time I saw it I thought someone had thrown a regular music CD-R in with a Sega CD game and dismissed it. Now I see it is probably a beta or something that was given to someone at a game magazine to review. Does anyone have any more information about this disc?
