    Default SNES milestone reached

Cart #140 arrived in the mail today. This is very significant to me, as I'm not sure that I will ever make it to cart #150. I only collect sealed SNES games, which makes it alot more difficult, and then I only collect the ones that were either exclusive to the system or were signifcantly different from the Genesis version. So it has taken me many years just to get this far. And there are very few games left that I want that I have not been able to find still sealed. Most of the ones that remain would be very difficult for me to afford, and many of them I already found but had to pass them up because I couldn't afford them at the time. So if I ever do make it to 150 SNES games, it will probably take me many more years to do so. Also, it is significant to me because today's particular arrival is an R6: S.O.S. Sink or Swim by Titus. I'm glad that this milestone is also a fairly rare game.

Congrats. You have more SNES games than me and all but 2 are loose! I'm sure you'll find more later down the road, just keep looking.

    Well done!

Speaking of SOS, I should have picked up the other SOS when I had the chance because now that I've played it in an emulator, I really want it. Sucks that I may have to resort to ebay for it

On a sidenote, the dp guide shows an ad for Sink or Swim on the other SOS page

and on a Titus tangent, Ardy Lightfoot seems pretty good from what I've played of it thus far.

Well actually I don't have any sealed SNES games, I just buy them that way. Now that's really freakin' crazy!

The Vic Tokai SOS is alot more cool than the Titus SOS, I think, but they're both pretty cool. Very challenging games either way. Now I finally have both of them. It's about time.

Funny thing is, back in the day I ran across several copies of the Titus SOS while looking for a copy of the Vic Tokai SOS. Passed them all up, and was highly annoyed that I kept finding the one that I wasn't looking for, and couldn't find the one that I was looking for anywhere. Finally found the Vic Tokai SOS about a year or two ago. Then I started looking for the Titus SOS, and couldn't find it anywhere.

Worst of it all was always having to ask sellers which SOS they had, and trying to explain to them that they weren't just different versions of the same game. Even the GOAT store says that they are still confused on the issue. So it's amazing that the name was approved for both games, but it's no wonder that people are confused. I'm confused too!

But the cart for the Vic Tokai SOS just says SOS on the top edge of the label, and the cart for the Titus SOS just says Sink or Swim or the top edge of the label. This leads me to believe that the official name of the Titus SOS is supposed to be Sink or Swim. Which makes sense because the title of the original Amiga game is Sink or Swim. But try telling that to the confused masses. I've seen the Vic Tokai SOS advertised as SOS: Sink or Swim, and the Titus SOS advertised as SOS. So people will always be confused.

Ah, you are in great luck today, my friend! I just happen to have a sealed copy of a game so rare, so significant, so ground breaking, and at such a great price, you simply won't be able to pass it up. What is the game? Super Slap Shot! I'm sure you will want this game, so just PM me and we can work out the details. And please, no one else pm me. This is a very special game, and can only go to the highest caliber of collector! But it is the least I can do, to help you attain the lofty "150."

Congrats, ID! I don't even bother with boxed SNES games anymore. If I find them in the wild that way, bonus; if not it's ok too!

Now Sega Genesis games......gotta be complete!!!

agreed... thought GEN doesn't always have to be complete for me... I'll take cart only if it's a great deal. Luckily, b/c of the hard GEN boxes people didn't throw them away over the years and thus they're easy to find complete these days. People just chucked the snes carton boxes like yesterday's news.

Congratulations on reaching a milestone with Sink or Swim, Iron Draggon. I thought it was much more fun to play than the Vic Tokai SOS, which seemed so somber and melodramatic.

I knew that you bought sealed Saturn games and opened them to play, so I was going to ask you if you did the same with your SNES collection.

Myself, I do seem to have a need for the original box and manuals, but I don't have any reservations at all about taking opened games. Box artwork can motivate me to want to try a game and that's something I've noticed a plain cart has always had a hard time doing.

Occasionaly I'll buy a game and it arrives sealed. Sometimes when this has happened I have examined the box before I opened it and came to the conclusion that it was, in fact, new. Sometimes I'm right and it was new. Other times I'd have sworn it was new by looking at the condition of the box (no visible shelf wear) and the kind of plastic it was sealed in and have been very suprised to find out it was simply resealed. Since I don't intentionaly try to buy games new, this isn't an issue for me, but I'm suprised none the less at how I was fooled even when I was holding it in my hand.

So I was wondering if you have ever purchased a sealed game and opened it and discovered it had been resealed and what do you do in those situations?

Man thats a lot of SNES gamers period let alone sealed ones. I personally wouldn't spend the extra cash to get a sealed copy I'd rather get a cheaper one. Also if anything happened after I opened the sealed copy I'd feel so stupid for opening it.
