I'm curious as to the forum's consensus on this one.
It's been getting good marks across the review circuit.
And if I'm not mistaken, it was in stores yesterday.
I played the 360 demo, and I really liked it. Laura is definately back with a vengence...
Of course, I ended up buying Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. But it was a pretty hard decision between buying the 2.
I may pick TR:L this weekend if I have some extra cash after I get the bills paid.
Its a great game. Totaly worth checking out!
my only gripe, is about how much better this is on 360 than xbox and ps2... I mean, looking at the side by side comparison on gametrailers.com, there really is no benefit to getting and paying 10-15 bucks more for the 360 ver, unless you want the acheivements of course.. but I am gonna rent it anyway.. just my 2 1/2 cents.
To be this good takes AGES
To be this great takes SEGA!!
Come on man, it's all about those Achievement Points! Just ask Gamereviewgod.Originally Posted by segagamer4life

I took a go at it over at a friend's house, and I thought it played quite sexcellently. I thought this would be total vaporware.
It sure is. I am gonna rent either Tomb Raider or Far Cry tommorow.Originally Posted by meancode
Oh i also should say that I played the demo and am very impressed. If my local game shop has it in tomorrow, as they tell me they will, I will pick it up.

I saw Battlefield sitting on the counter of my store.
I looked away...
..and hugged Tomb Raider and skipped on away home for a fantastic game experience. I'm thoroughly enjoying the game, it's just a fun game simply put.
The game feels like a return to the days of Tomb Raider 1/2, which is what most of us want. Tomb raiding.. in a game called Tomb Raider? Holy hell, I would have never have guessed!
Yeah i was chatting with Grayfox about this last night. I just can't get over how much the game feels like the originals. Everything about the game is great, except for the low polygon models.

I bought it for the PC and it's really great.
The xbox 360 version, while it does look better than the ps2 and xbox versions, has slowdown I hear. Regular xbox runs at 60fps, ps2 around 30.
The PC version depends on your comp really. With the "Next Generation Effects" toggled off, it looks better than the Xbox version and runs super quick. With it toggled on, it looks about the same as the 360 version (though 360 users might be playing on HDTV). I can run it about 20-30fps normally but it dips during hectic parts. I got 1gig ram, Geforce 6800GS, 2.8ghz pentium 4. Though I hear lesser computers can run it with the "Next Generation Effects" turned off pretty well. Just download the demo and try.
As for the gameplay, it's really fun. This is what Tomb Raider should have been a long time ago instead of the constant "same old stuff" sequels. Though the game is like 7 hours long and it walks you through some of the bigger puzzles. I hate that. I want to figure it out for myself, game!
edit: the PC version is only $40 too! DVD only though so ya gotta have a DVD drive. But who doesn't nowadays?
Definitely...a low-poly image can be completely irrelevant if it's textured really well. For example, this shotgun (made by one of my current instructors) looks pretty good:Originally Posted by GrayFox

75 polygons. Not bad, eh?
I like the exploration part of the demo that I've played but the actual gun play and combat seems kinda haphazard. Also, I played this demo on my 360 on a smallish TV, and it seemed very unimpressive to me, then I played it on my huge screen in the Garage, and the game practically came alive, it was really amazing how much of a difference there was on such different sized screens.
Yeah but with Tomb Raider Lara's low-poly count are kind of offensive to eyes given the rest of the detail.Originally Posted by pacmanhat

Anyway, originally I had thought "eh, Lara hasn't been much improved." I've been looking at the Flash banner ads all over GameSpy Forums, though, and I think the new, slightly more sophisticated look is...a bit better! If there's a PC demo of this, I'll try that out.
I got to see this Sunday's Best Buy ad early, and they're offering a Tomb Raider: Legend faceplate when you purchase the game. Looks like it is starting on Sunday, though, as a perusal and questioning at Best Buy turned up nothing yesterday.
