Default Collection Question: Which is Easier?

I was going to search for this, but I had no Idea what I should search for.

Anyways, I'm collecting N64 right now and was wonder which would be easier.

Buy Carts in bulk and get the boxes and instructions later
    or
    Just buy the game complete?

Which would be the best way for Super Nintendo?

I'm sure the age difference between the systems might bring different answers.

Buying complete games would be easier but probably more costly. You might save some money picking things up seperately but I doubt it would be easier. You would have more items to keep track of.

Also my experience with buying boxes and instructions seperate is they seem to have a little more wear on them than complete games.

boxes are hard to come by for the n64 and snes, personally, i dont care if i get a box or not, instructions youre not likely to read are hardly worth the extra 50% tacked on to the price.

Personally, if I see a good deal for either method, I wouldn't pass it up.

There was a thread on here a little while back on someone that was making plastic cases that held N64 games and would make a printout cover that would wrap around the outside of the case. It looked really nice and seems like a better idea to just collect cartridges and create your own boxes that are plastic rather than spending so must more time and money looking for flimsy paper boxes. Not to mention if you create your own boxes you can design a good dimension to go on a shelf!

I'm doing the home-made cases, and they look great. Some purists don't like them, but I'm actually doing all my N64 this way - even ones I have the boxes for - I like the uniform look.

I'll probably be doing the same for SNES at some point in the future.

There is some debate as to whether the PVC in the cases will affect the carts, but I personally don't think so.

If anyone has any N64 interiors I'd be interested, most of the "boxed" N64 games I have are literally just the outside box with the cart chucked inside. Kinda makes me feel guilty for ditching all my GBA inserts now (but not much).

    Default hmmm....

I've been trying to collect the boxes now (I have a complete N64 collection). It's not really possible to buy the boxes separately. You ususally only find the commons sold alone. I think you should buy them, complete and be patient. I'm not patient so I just got the carts when I found them dirt cheap.

I am hoping that the availability of older games on the Nintendo Wii (Revolution), and PS3 will encourage more people to sell off their old games and maybe boxes...

getting n64 and snes games with there boxes and manuals is a hard task.i normally dont see many with both unless its on ebay.it will cost you more to buy a game with box and manuals then buying a game loose.your best bet is to buy them loose and to save a little extra money.

If you eventually want complete packages, I'd suggest not buying loose carts, but do pick up all the loose boxes/manuals you see - it's much easier to pick up a loose cart in the future to complete them than it is the other way around.

I'm going for a complete US set of N64 games (well, eventually... once I finish my NES collection), and I've been picking up some N64 games here and there. I am also looking to get a complete in box collection, and I would never really consider buying the loose carts then buying up all the boxes. It seems like you'd basically be going through the hassle (or the fun ) of collecting it twice. It seems like it would just be a pain, but that is just me.
I never pick up an N64 game unless its got everything I want.

I was actually hoping for that same thing!
I figured people would sell off more of them when it becomes more easily available.
