Default Best version of Sherlock Holmes

As I've explained before, my wife is in to mysteries. I've always wanted to play Sherlock Holmes, even with all the bad I've heard of it. Well I figured if I'm going to spend the $ on it, I should look into what version is the best. If I'm lucky, the best version will end up being on one of the two systems here that I wish to buy...if not then I'll look into it and see if the system is something I'd be interested in purchasing.
I didn't add a "none of them are fun" to the options because that doesn't answer my question.

NOTES: I didn't include the 3DO in this because it doesn't use as much FMV as the others. That FMV is a part of the experience I'm looking for. I also didn't include the DVD release because I want to play it as it was back when FMV was the new thing.

I would love the Odyssey2 version if it were ever to be unearthed and made available.

The two Sherlock Holmes games have also been released on a single DVD, and it is the best by far.

I actually have a strange urge to get both Mega CD games. They don't exactly go for much on PAL format, so I'll let you know.

Thank you but I addressed that in the post.

Sorry, misread and was actually going to recommend the numerous excellent non-FMV PC versions. Story wise and puzzle wise they can't be beat. Well maybe a future recommendation anyway...

There were actually three Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective games released for the PC. I'm sure each one still has the same old-timey FMV feel as the console releases. (In fact, I have all three, and I'd be willing to sell them to you for the right price.)

The adventure games (The Case of the Serrated Scalpel and The Case of the Rose Tattoo) are completely different, of course.
