That looks really nice, good job!
That looks great. What guides did you follow?
I followed the one on gamesx.com for the S-video mod, the stereo one I had to probe for and the power LED I did myself.Originally Posted by c0ldb33r

How does the video compare now? Any before and after pics? Looks sweet
Good Idea for an LED light. That's one of the main things that piss me off about Genesis 3.
That looks pretty fucken cool! Nice job on the mods. I'd love to do this to a genesis 3. But the Xeye serves me so well though....
The S-video off the chip in the Gen 3 is nuts, this is actually the first time I actually liked S-video, WAY better than the crappy composite off the cable.Originally Posted by shawnb1824

That's a pretty nice looking mod you did (doesn't look like crap at all). Can't say I'm into doing anything like that due to the extreme costs and lack of hardware around here incase you screw up and need another system. Never owned a GEN3 but hear that since they were produced by a 3rd party that some games aren't compatible with them. Is that true and if so can you fix it besides flopping out hardware from one model to another?
About the AVI, that's pretty cool. Was it difficult or what? I'm sure some others would like to know as well incase they are currious with how they too can get better sound/video quality.

I've heard that there are some games that it does not support as well but it was across the board with all Genesis 3 units, don't know off the top of my head which titles they were. The thing the Genesis 3 has going for it is that Japanese Mega Drive cartridges can fit into it's cartridge slot without modification (it's still a tight fit however and should be widened just a bit). Also it's the only Genesis system that doesn't require breaking traces to install US/JPN and 60Hz/50Hz region switches - the jumper points are right next to one another as well. However the challenge (of what there is to put the switches in a Genesis 3) is fitting the switches and everything else back inside the small system shell.Originally Posted by cyberfluxor
Can the Genesis 3 be modified to work on a PAL TV? I'm interested in buying one but there's no point if I can't use it on my TV.
cool! man, I'm horrible at modding. Once I tried to add headphones to a handheld game and, well; let's just say that if you saw the first episode of FMA, then you'd know what I mean...
just move the 50/60hz jumper.Originally Posted by Fibblewith

Very cool mod.
Thanks. I thought about that, but wasn't quite sure.Originally Posted by XianXi
Dont even bother doing that..Originally Posted by XianXi
Just get an RGB scart cable, leave it at 60hz and if your TV supports 60hz you can play in full screen with colour..
Does RF not work like that, then? I've played PS2 games on 60Hz fine, but my Nomad doesn't work using an RF cable.Originally Posted by chaoticjelly

So, how did you put in the LED? I may just add an LED to my Genesis 3, but how do i do it.
I've been tempted to ninja mod my friend's top loading NES for ages with a power LED. It drives me nuts not having one.
To do it just tap into a line that has a steadily powered line whenever power is on. Get your multimeter and see how many volts you have running on it and put in a LED and a resistor to match it using a LED calculator.

(Oh, and make sure its not blinding)

Good point. I put a blue LED in one of me original NESes and its a bit too bright I think.Originally Posted by Avatard
