    Default Earthbound

    <A HREF=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8284262913&rd=1&sspage name=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1> Earthbound</A>

What is this? I'm 99% certain it's a fake. I know the beta cart of it didn't even have a picture on it (naturally, because Beta carts don't tyoically have pictures). Also, the Japanese game was Mother. Hell, it says it's a rerelease (which, considering it wasn't released in the US, I'm highly doubting that).
    The reserve is 200 bucks.

I once owned that exact cartridge. It was previously a Might & Magic cartridge, then I gave it to leonki and he turned it into Earth Bound. I traded THIS EXACT cart to somebody on NESWorld and now this is him selling it on eBay.

He comes right out and says it's a reproduction in the description. It's really a case of ignorant bidders. Though, he does mislead them by using the words "rare" all over the place.

It's a pretty complex process. You have to de-solder the EPROM chips inside and throw them out. Then you need to write the game code (ROM) onto new EPROM chips, re-solder them to the board, and then re-wire the board.

So far I've only seen it done with NES but I'm sure somebody has done it with cartridge games for other systems.

Isn't worth anywhere close to $200. Leonki can make you one for $25. He hangs out around here and NESWorld. But he does say it's a reproduction in the description, so it's more of the bidders fault if they want to pay $200 for it.

It can be done with SNES too, but im not sure if its that easy as NES. I've seen Starwing 2 (Starfox 2) repro cart for SNES. Btw, NES have ROMS, not EPROMS. But ye, you have to de-solder the ROMs then replace them with EPROMs

Come to think of it, I have seen it done with SNES before too. I just wish somebody would figure out how to make N64 repros. I'd buy Zelda Master Quest and Sin & Punishment reproductions in an instant. I wish I was more technical or I'd try to figure it out myself.

    Yup. A reproduction.

Any system can theoratically be reproduced, the only factor that gets in the way is cost.

It's much more difficult to reproduce complex SNES games than NES games. It can be done, but it requires a lot more soldering and EPROM chips. Hence the cost is much higher.

People always ask me about SNES reproductions. I keep on telling them that it's much much cheaper to buy an SNES copier to play your ROMs rather than pay for reproductions.

As far as I know, there aren't any mass produced copiers for the NES.. hence why reproductions are the only way to go with protos at this time.

Folks. Please don't be fooled by this guy. All games I sell have a message from me written on the inside to stop scammers.

I opened up my Earthbound repo that you made me a while back, and I see no message. You're a liar! :-)

This is something I started doing in the last few months. I was sick and tired of seeing people being ripped off on eBay.
