Nomad power adaptor

I went hunting through the search feature and hit over 700 finds most just dealing with Nomad batteries and how others own one. To the point though, from what I've heard you can use your Genesis Ver. 2 power plug with the Nomad system and your GTG, but my issue is when reading the specs on the Nomad it requires 9V/850mA DC in while the Gen2 plug I have is 10V/850mA DC out. I REALLY don't want to blow the board on my Nomad by just testing it, so I want some confirmation:

Can I use my Sega Model MK-2103 Class 2 Power Supply that's:
IN: 120V AC 60Hz 15W
OUT: 10V DC 0.85A
on my Nomad. Using simple physics idealogy it will blow the board on my Nomad and want to make sure if there's another adaptor I need.

Also any direction to a topic that discusses this or a webpage to additional information would be appreciated. Simple yes/no answers are welcomed as well.

Yes. I routinely use my Nomad with this adapter and it works without any problem whatsoever.

Yes the Genesis 2 AC adapter does work for the Sega Nomad. That is what I use.

Okay, awesome. 2 positive responses on here plus another from a difference source makes 3/3 yes. But I'm told that if it's left on for long periods of time it can burn out the system, which of course isn't much of a suprise. But because it was stated, anyone know how long it would take?

Never heard that one. I can't imagine prolonged voltage doing any harm to the chipset. If there's a weak point to the system it's probably the backlit screen which, I imagine, would probably burn out if left running for a long period of time.

One aspect of the Nomad that I consider to be a design flaw is the fact that the built-in screen stays on all the time, even if the Nomad is hooked to a television via the A/V. It would have been be nice if one could power off the screen separately from the CPU, a la the Lynx, to allow for longer running times on AC power without fear of burning out the display.

I've left mine on all night several times, and its fine. I *think* the problem you're referring to is if you leave the battery pack connected while you use the Nomad for long periods of time at the same time you use the AC Adapter.

Sorry I can't be more specific, but its been many years since i heard that rumor. Genesis 2 power adapter works perfectly

Just for the record, if you have one of those rechargable power packs, get some of the 'solder' type rechagable batteries from Radio Shack. The thing is a pain to open, but the newer battery type lasts aboult double the time of the origininal cells

I use the Genesis V2 adapter as well. I don't think the one volt is a big deal. However if the current were 1 amp higher then you would likely have an issue.

Sounds toasty. I was up a few hours playing Phantasy Star II on it using the Gen2 power cord and it was working just fine. I think stonecutter hit it on the head because the amps are what can burn it out. More amps push the voltage harder upon the board which would cause a burnout.
