I think the font for the title and everything is pretty fitting and i dig the layout, but yea...that artwork is pretty damn bad. It's not even nostalgic bad, it's just crummy fan-art bad. It's what you'd expect to see drawn on an envelope and printed in the corner of the letters page of a game magazine.
But credit where it's due, the title (font/placement/color) looks great. Except for on the cart...

You know, after all of this stupid arguing about the cover art I'm beginning to wish that they would have just shipped the game with a plain black cover with the word Beggar Prince in a white font. Then everyone would really have something to bitch about.
Christ, they could have released the game without a box or manual at all and gotten less shit about it than they're getting now.

Then **AS EVERYONE HAS BEEN SAYING FOR WEEKS** just make you own cover for the thing and you won't ever have to look at this art again. Plain black with white text, should be within your abilities, right?
However, I must admit, I'm not one of these people who doesn't see any problem with the art they chose. It does indeed look pretty bad to me, just not bad enough to warrant more than a single comment. Furthermore, I don't think it's the childishness of the drawing that's bad, either, it's the horrible Photoshop effects like the clouds and the shadows that make it look lame, in my opinion. I would have prefered an entirely hand drawn cover. That would have been authentically bad at least.

received mine tonight! while taking a break from doing some weeding, i played it for about an hour. game looks great, and plays great. LOVE the music (so far).
i will have to play this more over the holiday weekend.
