Default MAME on the DC: Which MAME roms work?

With sites such as dcemulation.com having a MAME emulator of the DC.
That poses a question...Which was put by me to a friend who
burns a lot of DC CDs. When he replied that not all MAME roms
work with that emulator. What I like to know is that has anyone
tried the MAME emulator for the DC, and what MAME roms they found
that had worked and which ones hadn't. But what about the other
arcade emulators for the DC...what about them?

It's a crapshoot really.. I got a mame disc for the DC which has every pack and the only way to tell if a game works or not is to try it out.. which can be a process in itself (since some games that don't work actually reboot the Dreamcast) x_x

There's just too many to list though. Too many that work. Too many that don't work. Too many that work great. Too many that work slightly. Too many that work but are slow. Etc.

Offhand I know that Moon Cresta works awesomely Atari vector games work but are missing some displays and thus are basically unplayable. Also River Patrol is another game that works great.

There are some dedicated emulators for the DC that are nice. The Pacman/Ms Pacman/Crush Roller emulator by Ganksoft is arcade perfect, there is a space invaders emulator and a phoenix emulator that follow the same route. As for MameDC, llike was just said, it is a chance. I have found maybe 20 or so games that work 100% just browsing through the discs I made with a full romset awhile back. I am sure there are more that run at full speed, but these are mainly older games (pre-1987).

Dozen or so? uhhmm.. well yeah like I said above, I've burned a cd with a couple thousand games.

heck if I know. I sort of doubt that there is though. There's just too fucking many games for a comprehensive list and I doubt anyone out there had the mass amount of time it would need to test them all...especially for a hobby platform like the Dreamcast.

There is (or was) a compatibility list at:

    http://digita.mame.net/download.htm

But it seems the link is dead. Ask the author.

Do your self a favor and try some of the dedicated packs like Zektor mentioned. I think most of the games that run well have them.

MameDC is a cool novelty, but you're not gonna fire it up for some serious gaming.

If you have been wondering as I have been. I just found out about a site
that has all the answers...and them some. Including about which Neo Geo
rom also works on the Dreamcast.
