Default Up N' Down -- Who Loves It?

Up N' Down is still one of my favorite games, and one of my MAME faves. Anyone else still play this buggy classic?

I think my current high score is around 42,000 ... I keep messing up on level 4. :/ I also can't get the highest bonus on level one -- always 20-29 seconds.

I used to play Up N' Down, all the time back in the C-64 days.

I always sucked at it though. Still do.

I played the hell out of the C64 version back in the day. The consoles ports weren't as good. I never did play the arcade original back then so my first exposure to it was through emulation. A definite classic.

    *raises hand*

I used to play this one in the arcade all the time. Sadly, I was the only one who ever played it and it was taken away after a couple of months, but I got pretty durn good at it after the first couple of weeks.

Has everyone found Pengo in there? Cowabunga!

I think I've only played the 2600 version so far... I thought the controls were a bit clunky, and the game in general was a bit frustrating, but for some reason, it grew on me, and I ended up really liking it. Up N Down is a nice companion game to my favorite game, Bump N Jump (that all sounds dirtier than it is, I assure you).

In an amazing coincidence, Up N' Down was the game featured in Alan Hewston's wonderful "Many Faces of..." column at RTM this month.

With that subject line, I'm surprised at how few naughty comments are in this thread.

Never played this game until MAME, but it quickly became a favorite. Haven't played it for a while though... I may just have to go fire it up again. I also picked up the 2600 cart not long ago, but haven't tried it yet.

I've got the arcade cabinet (rarely ever play it, though).

Kind of odd it's only on that collection.

That first link says Up 'n Down may have used some code from Pengo. NeoZeedeater discovered a while ago that Pengo was actually done by Coreland. Is it possible UND was, too?

Pengo being a Coreland game isn't my discovery. I learned of it in the DP easter eggs- http://www.digitpress.com/eastereggs/arcadepengo.htm

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Up'n Down is a Coreland game too.

I suppose "discovered" isn't the right word. Pointed out...
