Default 2 Genesis2s not powering on

I have two genesis2's, both do not power on. I only have one ac adaptor, but it works in neither. I find it a little hard to believe I got two clunkers.. so is there anything I can do to get these things running so I can play Double Switch on sega cd?! I need some Haim time.

First off make sure for your Genesis 2 your using a
MK-2103 10V DC 0.85A (850mA) adapter, and with your Sega CD a MK-1602 9V DC 1.2A Adapter. AC frys a Genesis and is not the correct adapter. On the Sega CD you must ONLY use the Sega Powersuppy or your blow the fuse. The Genesis and CD require both powersuppys to operate. The Genesis will operate alone without the Sega CD on,but the Sega CD wont,it requires the Genesis to be on before it turns on. Hope this helps.

I'm using the correct adaptor, the genesis2/32x one with the yellow coloring at the tip and the official sega logo.

i don't know if the supply is broken or the systems, and it's becoming quite an expensive endeavor to find out.

If you've got a multimeter, you can check the voltage on the power adapter tip.

Also, it seems fairly common for the power LED's to fail on the Genesis 2. That is, the systems can work just fine, but the power LED will not illuminate. Perhaps the units ARE powering on, but there's some other problem (diry contacts, etc)?

Also, another problem that seems fairly common is that the power adapter connector on the rear of the Genesis 2 will loosen up and require resoldering to ensure a good contact. I suppose this could happen to both units.

It's most likely your power adapter. Try another one that is confirmed to work, or try yours in a Genesis 2 that is confirmed to work, before running all over the map trying to solve other probably nonexistent problems... that's bad engineering.
