    Surprise! It's the Campus Challenge!

    As I've predicted here!

    And it's from 1990!

Man, make me wish I could find deals like this.

    I'd just...well I don't know...probably go insane if I found something like this.

Are you sure that the final of the NWC in 1990 wasn't on these games?
Are you really really sure that the final was on the usual NWC?

Because these games, (SMB3, Pin Bot and Dr Mario) were all new for 1990! And, remember, the whole competition has been held following the success of The Wizard movie! And in the final, that little boy had to play with SMB3!!!

    Think about it!

The competition begins 8 march and SMB3 has been released the 1st february...and the hype was BIG!

    Think well! Try to remember!

The final, are you sure about it???

This is what I think: for the competition they used usual NWCs, but for the final they used this cart. If not, I can't explain the "1990".

To Buyatari: we're currenlty rtying to understand this. There is one Campus Challenge for SNES and this "second" NWC for NES. In 2 days all the history has been changed!

Wow i didnt notice it was 3 diffrent games than the NWC cart. Is it possible that they planed to have these 3 games instead of SMB/Rad Racer/Tetris? Or doesnt the release dates on the other games match with when the NWC was held?

Did you read my post 2 posts ago?
It's all matching. I think it has been used, maybe during the finals.

Trust me, the Super Mario 3/Pinbot/Dr. Mario is part of the Campus Challenge tournament. I had been saying something like this existed for years. It was NOT part of the NWC.

The SNES portion of the Campus Challenge I was unaware of myself, but I am sure there were two portions.

It would also confirm this old article, which I've quoted before:

Yep, i did read it. You only mention when NWC was held and when SMB3 was released. I dont know when Dr. Mario and Pin-Bot was released. If i knew i wouldnt have asked hehe :P

But DreamTR confirmed it and kralleman came with the article. So i guess the mystery is solved now

Well, hopefully we find out when/how these are being sold, and/or if they are not being sold.

Please, please, before selling, if you ever want to, share as many pics and infos as you can! After being sold, this cart may be lost forever: not everyone is like DP members!

    Great find!

What I don't understand, though, is why it doesn't have a Campus Challenge titlescreen when they already made one for the SNES version. I'm assuming that there's two possibilities. Either this cart was used for the NWC finalists like Nicola mentioned, which would make sense since finalists would have to be able to master (new) games in a relatively short time period. Or this cart was meant to be used for the NWC, then scrapped due to the fact that the games were too new and the contest would have too small of an audience (SMB/Rad Racer/Tetris had been played by just about every NES consumer/gamer back then, so with those games the audience is automatically MUCH larger), and possibly the software was then later used at the Campus Challenge since most gamers by that time had played them, and the titlescreen wasn't changed since they just used the same software from the initial version?
I'm always looking for new boxed NES accessories. If you've got any for sale, shoot me a PM!
