    Default Best handheld sports games?

I've been playing Super Real Tennis on my k750i phone and I quite like it. it got me to thinking: what are some of the best sports games to play on the go? I'm thinking more traditional sports and not things like billards, etc.

I don't have a PSP, but I bet Hot Shots Golf would be a good one for on the go. I also sometimes play the Soccer Cup '98 on NGP.

Do any of you play sports games on the go?

Neo Turf Masters on the NGPC. I'm not a sports fan at all. But I do like the odd bit of handheld-based golfing.

Actually, the original Mario Golf on GB was quite good too.

I second Neo Turf Masters for NGPC, Its by far the best sports game I've ever played on a handheld.

I enjoy the Tiger and Mattel handhelds, along with the clones and variations made from other LCD handheld companies. Those were great fun as a kid and I am thankful most of that stuff goes for pennies on Ebay meaning I can replace any old games I have lost easy as pie.

NHL Hitz (20-03 I think) for the GBA is really good.

Neo Turf Masters is good, Hot Shots Golf for the PSP is probably better though. Mario Golf on the GBA is also great. Baseball advance on the GBA is also really good. I've never tried a handheld hockey game...

I'd go with Mutant League Football on the Nomad, but if the Genesis handheld is being tossed out I enjoy Blades of Steel on the Original Gameboy. Fun times, fun times.

    Default hmm

does mario cart count as sports?
i've never seen a good translation of a basketball or base ball game on a handheld. (nomad doesnt count)
the only sport that has a steady quality on handhelds seems to be golf.

I play the heck out of my Mattel Football 2. Two player is great at work but it makes a lot of noise. Too bad it doesnt have volume adjustment. There is one on ebay right now but its the reissue. I have played that one but if I remember correctly the buttons feel different. Better or worse is a matter of opinion. I like my oldie.
    ebay auction #: 8821877507

EDIT: Looks like the reissue has a sound on/off switch. I need the sound to keep the other player honest...lets me know when it's my turn. I'd rather it had a volume adjustment instead.

As a bit of an update, I picked up both Neo Turf Masters (well, JP version Big Tournament Golf, actually) and Wonder Classic for the WonderSwan Color. The Wonder Classic is a golf game as well.

Neo Turf Masters is really fun, reminds me of it's big brother on the home system. Good music, too.

Wonder Classic is a bit of a revelation -- pretty cheap, got mine for under $10, and aside from some Japanese text on the menus it's quite import-friendly. The gameplay is really fun, too. It's really got some of the best controls i;ve seen on a handheld sports game. Only drawback (and it's not really one) is that most of the players and courses have to be unlocked. When you start the game up you can only choose 1 course and from 2 players. There's 16 players total, though.

I do want to check out the NHL Hitz (that was mentioned) on the GBA. I am intrigued by a handheld hockey game. I always liked the old SNES NHL series, and since the GBA is like a portable SNES hopefully it'll work great!

When it comes to modern sports games, I think the PSP is doing an outstanding job. I've tried alot of the various sports games on there, and they play and look almost as good as their console big brothers.

If you consider emulation, I remember playing Madden 93 for the Genesis on my PSP, and I remember it working pretty damn well, but the only thing with emulation, is that sometimes you get this blurring when sprites are moving around fast. Also, it's a good idea to do the D-pad mod when playing old school games on the PSP via emulation.

The Game Gear version of Arch Rivals was very good. NBA Jam wasn't bad either. Ultimate Soccer was also pretty fun.

Lynx was host to great versions of 720 and California Games.

I was seriously thinking about picking that game up.

For some reason, the listing of prices on DPs Rarity Guide aren't on par whatsoever with any Neo Geo Pocket Color prices I find. When I go to game stores they are $4-10 tops cart+case only, but on eBay I see games going all over the place. Is the NGPC market bouncy or something?
