Default Confused about what cords to use for sega cd model 2 + cd

I recently purchased a bare bones sega genesis model 2 w/sega cd attachment, but I have no idea what cords to use. I'm thinking I have to use two different ac adapters, that are two different types?

It says on the bottom of the sega cd attachment to use 1604, but when I go online the 1601 (the adapter is for 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604) ac adapter says it's strictly for genesis model 1 (one with vol control).

So do I need an old ac adapter (for model 1 for the cd attachment) and a newer one (for model 2)?

Also, how do I disconect the genesis model 2 from the sega cd attachment base. I tried pulling it apart (I wanted to read bottom to see what adapter it wants), but that didn't seem right. I unscrewed the screws in the bottom of the sega cd, but those are for taking that unit apart.

    Sorry for all the confusion!

    Nate

Yes, they use two seperate adaptors. The Genesis model 2 uses the standard Genesis 2 adaptor. A Genesis model 1 adaptor can be used for the Sega CD model 2.

    Default A/V cord

For Optimal Audio Visual experience, all you need is a Sega brand A/V cable (yellow, white, and red) for the Genesis portion. You will still get Stereo sound without having to use the stereo plugs from the sega CD.
I love buying stuff now, that I could never afford in the past!!!

I know this doesn't help, but I find it infinately easier to use an X'Eye or a CDX. The CDX uses the standard Genesis Model 2 A/V cord. The X'Eye is even better in that you can use straight through A/V cables.

But, yeah, if you put a 32X to play CDs on there you'll need:

    32X -> Genesis cable
    A/V Out cable for 32X
    Power Cable for 32X
    Power Cable for Genesis
    Power Cable for Sega CD

    Quite a mess.

Wow what a nightmare if you have a 32x as well (I don't want one, I just want the cd actually). Yeah I saw the JVC thing on eBay and wished for the ease of that (like my 3do) and initially I wanted the CDX, but can't justify finding that much on something that old (that might break and that I won't use that much).

    Thanks for the replies,

    Nate
