Dual Shock 2 controllers with PS1 games

Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but do the Dual Shock 2 controllers have any functional difference from a Dual Shock (1) on PS1 games (played on either PS1 or PS2)? I ask because I purchased quite a few of these, and now I'm wondering why the hell I bought them. Many are still sealed. I only have 2 PS2/Dual Shock 2 controllers, but figure if they are the same if using with PS1 games, I might as well save space and use the Dual Shock 2's for both systems and get rid of all these Dual Shock (1) controllers I have, as well as pick up a few more Dual Shock 2's.. I just don't want like 5-6 DS's and 5-6 DS2's sitting around when I could just have 5-6 DS2's and that's it..

Since the Dual Shock 2's big selling point was that it was pressure sensitive that you didn't have to mash down on a button and not jump as high, drive as fast ect. Since the PS games didn't have that kind of sensitivity built in, it didn't matter.

There probably a few games that won't like the controller all that much, but I'm pretty sure that its not a big deal since the PS2 can play almost all PSOne games and i'm sure that was a factor in the equasion when they did the backwards compatability.

PS1 games will work fine with a DS2 when played on a PS2. However, when used on my old PS1 (model 1001), the buttons on the DS2 act a bit screwy, and occasionally register presses for no reason.

I only have 35 PSX games, but my Dual Shock 2 works perfectly on all of them.

The only game I had complain on me was Ape Escape. I had to switch out the Dual Shock 2 for the original. It was one of those games in which the Dual Shock was mandatory.

Playing them on a PS1 or PS2? I definitely noticed my DS2 acting funny on the PS1 hardware.

Hmm I'm pry the only one that does the oposite, I allways use a Dualshock for my ps2 games. I hate that pressure sensitive crap.

Wasnt there also a dual analog controller released before the dual shock?

Other than having concave stick caps instead of rounded and lacking a rumble feature they might have had other differences...

I've been known to do that as well. The buttons are just so much crisper on the original DS.

Sothy: yeah, the Dual Analog Controller was pretty rad. It had longer grips on the bottom. It also had two analog modes. One was compatible with games that used the dual analog joystick (red LED mode, I think), and the other was for dual analog controller games, enabling things like L3 and R3 (green LED mode). It's compatible with some Dual Shock games in green mode, but many have no idea what to do with it.
