Default Repair a Sega Master System Light Phaser Gun

Anyone here know how to diagnose and repair a SMS Light Gun ?

Gun clicks and the relay inside is good, but when using it, there is no "reaction".
No flashes, nothing, when aiming and firing.
Tested with a confirmed working gun so it is not the system.

I opened it up and all looks there. It is part of a set
so I want to keep the set complete.
    Must do the route

I just received my Phaser from eBay and it fires intermittently, which is irritating. Any ideas on a quick fix or should I try and get my money back from the seller?

I also have a broken Phaser lightgun, but it's in far worse shape. When you pull the trigger, the SMS (or Genesis w/converter) shorts/freaks out, the video goes wacky and the game stops working. When you let go of the trigger, sometimes the console resets, sometimes it stays crashed.

Would be nice to find a solution.

You guys with problem with lightguns should start by checking that there are no broken wires in the cord. Thats the most common problem with controllers and such.
Broken wires can short together too and bad things can happen.

And yeah, use a CRT of course.
