Default SNES Starfox super weekend info

I was cleaning out my basement and getting my own "room of doom" set up when I came across this little find. In the tub of snes games I have, I found this game. My knowledge on snes games isn't as extensive as on sega games. I looked online for info but could anyone tell me what the difference in gameplay is from the original. Any major differences? Saw the prices on ebay and its ridiculous. I remember buying this at Lamestop a few years ago with the box and manual for under $10. Bought it as a replacement and played it for lil while only to be put back in the box and in the tub. Did blockbuster ever make an official box for this game? I guess you can find things in the wild, even when its dumb luck

Box...? Manual...? I presume you mean the proper retail versions of both, but the Super Weekend cart inside instead here, because as far as I know, it was only sold as the cart on its tod.

This is the cart used for the competition during 1992, it's just a timed version of the game with a slightly different scoring system. And yes, it goes for money on eBay

Am I thinking of the DKC game when I say that there was a weird type of box and instructions with it? Or was it indeed the the SF SW cart?

The Starfox Super Weekend cart did not come with a box or manual as far as I know. Nintendo Power is where you could order Starfox Super Weekend from, and last I heard there were about 2000 of these.

Here is a scan of the cart for those of you who have never seen one

But did anyone save the box Nintendo sent them in?

There was letter or invvoice or anything inside the box?

From what I understand, there were two ways to obtain them.

    1. Win the Starfox Super Weekend Competition
-came with the cart, Jacket, and possibly the certificate

    2.Order it from Nintendo Power
-came with cart and the certificate

Now you can by them from someone who obtain them these ways, but these were how the public ontained them back then and chances are that it cart only. I have never heard of any box for it. Not to say that someone hasn't made one to match.

Thanks for the info. I'm guessing the box and manual it came with was probabaly a retail box and the store employee probably just put it in there. What's even funnier is that the employee said the game was new even though it was being sold as "used". They must have went through the trouble of shrinkwrapping it and everything. The inside had the plastic covering on the catridge to give it the impression of unused. Makes you have second thoughts about purchasing anything that's so called "new" from these stores.

Any difference in gameplay between the USA and PAL version? Does it run slower on the PAL version?

No one's mentioned the apron yet.

I was the said "Competition Coordinator" for the weekend. I was working at Kay-Bee at the time. The big button is a flasher button, it also says "Ask Me About Starfox." In my case it should have said "I Know Dick About Starfox." I asked the Manager if I could keep the cart, but she wouldn't let me.

I didn't know there was a jacket that went along with this whole ordeal. Any idea on how many of these were given away? I'm just asking because every once in a while, theres a guy that comes into my best buy store and he's wearing a start fox super weekend jacket. Not so much now, but in the winter, I remember the jacket catching my eye every time. Didn't know if the jacket was rare or anything.

the jackest was far more limited than cart itself, it was a contest prize and came in a Nintendo Power Box with appreciation note from Nintendo(congratulations letter and such), I still have mine brand new in original Nintendo Power box with letter(1993!).
you couldnt order these from Nintendo Power.

On ebay, the jacket comes up about once a year while the cart only about twice a year. Though a lot of carts have surfaced as of recent.

When I was working at Nintendo of America as a lowly temp, during their sale they had 3 or 4 of the Starfox jackets for purchase. Unfortunately they were 80 bucks each and since I had just moved I didn't want to fork out that kind of cash since i was getting paid a piddly $8.60 an hour there (I stayed there all of 3 or 4 weeks).

So I passed on the jackets, and picked up the Starfox Competition cart everyone was ignoring for the grand total of 2 bucks

It is so funny to see that there were so many additional items asscoiated with this promotion. Where was I? I vaguely remeber blockbuster doing this but I guess the one near me was to ghetto for that As for the carts popping up recently is that there is more people realizing what they are and snatching them up. Soon used games stores that still sell snes games will eventually figure out and then it'll be tough luck finidng any in the wild.

I just recently got the game myself and I was wondering if there is a save feature in the game to save high scores or not?

I'm starting to write up an article on the Starfox Competition. I already have a Super Weekend cart, and plenty of information for the US competition. However, I'm missing details on the European competition, as well as high quality scans of the carts. I know there were German and English versions, but I have no info on who put on the competition in Europe, what the prizes were, and how the leftover carts were distributed. Any info would be wonderful.
<Evan_G> i keep my games in an inaccessable crate where i can't play them
