I was the said "Competition Coordinator" for the weekend. I was working at Kay-Bee at the time. The big button is a flasher button, it also says "Ask Me About Starfox." In my case it should have said "I Know Dick About Starfox." I asked the Manager if I could keep the cart, but she wouldn't let me.
The Apron's probably just as rare as the cart.

I know there were German and English versions, but I have no info on who put on the competition in Europe, what the prizes were, and how the leftover carts were distributed. Any info would be wonderful.
I have the European Starwing Competition cart. Here are scans of the front and back:

Picked it up on eBay a few years back. I really wanted the US version since I participated in the competition back in the day, but this was as close as I could get at the time

Won a T-Shirt and pin but didn't get any further than that. Hope the scans help!

Thanks for the info. I should have enough information to publish this article. It will likely be done in a few weeks. Stay tuned.

I competed in this competition here in Canada..the previous year the Nintendo truck that had toured featured Super Mario for the SNES (which I went to the finals for) and the Star Fox one was more popular and obviously much bigger..I forget what the prizes were but I'm sure I can dig up some old papers and find out..to shed some light on the jackets, they were just used by the people hired to promote the tour at first (I guess they went on sale afterwards..according to some people's posts on here) and the way I got my jacket was I borrowed one (to wear and walk around with in the city the finals took place in) and kept it lol..

The employees were mad cool and by that time knew me..since I followed the truck to almost all the cities around me (sometimes more than a half hour drive) to make sure I achieved the best score I could get..hard work paid off as this was the last Nintendo Competition (at least directly from Nintendo's own truck) in the 90's (there were smaller ones) on a large scale..good memories for sure..I have the cart and jacket none the less and maybe a hat stuffed in a closet some where..

The apron is a crazy find..never knew such a thing existed..and why lol..it would be cool to come across the people who actually put that event on..wonder what they are doing now..well anyways if anyone has more information post up in here..

I was wondering if anyone has a copy of the Fall/Winter 1993 Super Power Supplies Catalog that came with a subscription of Nintendo Power. It apparently has the advertisement selling the cart.

I apologize in advance about the picture (picture of picture taken with my digital camera, as I have yet to find my way to a scanner) quality BUT here is a picture of the Star Fox competition that was held in Canada. I am not to familiar with the "Star Fox Weekend" if that is what it was called in the States but in Canada it was the cart itself used for the competition (highest score for province I think it was for certain age groups) in a Nintendo Truck that was so awesome.

Anyways here is a picture they took of all age groups, posing with goodies and you can see the Star Fox shits we got some of the kids are holding the jacket. I still have mine in my closet.

What about the T-shirt? I just found the one I won when I was 8 years old in my mom's attic. Still have the pin, too.

Wow, so much different merchandise involved with the event, all very cool!

I'd like to see someone decked out in the hat, apron, button, jacket, wearing the pin, with cart in hand all at once.

Ah, I'm new here... Might have posted in the wrong spot before. Any way, just getting into game collecting. And Starfox was one of my fav's from back in the day. Anyway, there's a jacket up on auction now. Just wondered what's a fair price for this?

I'm not sure how much it's worth, but I had one. Probably still have it at my parents house somewhere, but I wore the shit out of it so it isn't in the best condition as I remember one of the sleeves was coming apart. Also I didn't get the cart with winning the contest (I won at Sears). They said that Nintendo had to have the cart back to recycle with other competition carts.

I don't think that the jacket is as rare as people think. This competition was everywhere (Sears, Kay-Bee, Toys R Us, Venture, Walmart, etc.). There must have been at least 10 contests within a 20 mile radius of me. The event took place at several thousand stores, across the entire country. Every store winner got a flight jacket in the mail. So if there were 2,000-3,000 carts then there were probably about just as many jackets. However, I think that there were more like 5,000-10,000 stores participating. At least it seemed like it.

I'd be interesting in looking at some pictures. Think you can put them up here on the boards?
