Default Is your collection insured ?

This may sounds crazy, but I was talking to a friend of mine last week about my video game collection, and he mentionned something I never though about before. He asked me if I ever thought about insuring it, just in case. Thinking about it, it sort of makes sense, if something would happen, I would at least get some money back.

Have any of you insured their video game collection ? or just thought about it ?

Now that you mention it. I haven't thought about it. But it makes sense though. I guess people here who have property insurance have all their video game collections valued in it along with the other stuff like furniture and what not.

I do. The house, furniture, and appliances are grouped under one amount. All my gaming stuff is under it's own amount as well.

I keep a itemized list on my computer which is updated everytime I buy something, along with a backup on a cd inside a fireproof safe which I update at least once a month. This has a complete list of games, game systems, TVs (makes & models). Plus if something has a serial number then it's noted on the cd as well. I also keep a set of digital pictures for the big items like the arcade machines. Tornado, fire, and theft are all covered.

    Paranoia....gotta love it.

Even if you don't have insurance at least keep a copy of the serial number of anything that has it. That way if it's ever found it can help prove that it belongs to you.
We saved some guy's life. Killed some vicious murdering lichs and blew up something big. I'd call that a pretty good night.
