Does an arcade person here know what a used Gauntlet: Dark Legacy machine is worth. T hat is my favorite game of all time and I want to get the arcade version of it. I am just checking so I dont pay too much.
Thanks!

Anywhere from $1800 to $2950 is what I've seen offered. Depending on the cabinet.
Most post-1999 cabinets take several years to go down in price.
So 1 grand is a great deal?
Yeah - sounds pretty good. It's not even that old. It must not be getting enough play where it's located (I'm assuming its on someones coin-op route).
A grand sound like a pretty good deal. You may wanna wait for some other opinions besides mine before you jump though...
Congrats on the find!
I would think between $300-$600 seems about right, if I had the cash I could have bought 2 of them at auction for $300 a piece.
Gotta have it all!!!

Moving this to the arcade forum!

Sorry about that- I did not know there was an aracade forum. 300-600 seems unreal, because a Gauntlet: Legacy machine is about 600-
It has several things that drive up the price -- big monitor, med-res monitor, hard drive, and 4 players. Depending on the size of the cabinet, I would not be surprised to see one go for $750-$1,000. Part of the price would depend on whether or not it was a dedicated cabinet or a Legends conversion.
There's one on eBay with a BIN for $1,095.
That is the one I am looking at-
Since I have never bought an arcade machine before and I have no idea on the value of it- Is the price good/great/bad?
I'd say it's a good deal. I've seen some of those machines locally here go for well around and over $2000. They're big machines, so if you've got a place in mind on where you want to put it, you might want to consider if it'll actually fit in the doorway...OR, if the top monitor part, or whatever you want to call it, will come off.
All right youngens, bath time. Cover up your eyes and drop your britches! Who wants wax?
Ok thanks for the guys-
I will start allocatiing my funds
Anyone know how much the value will decrease?
Impossible to determine. As all games go, it'll drop as newer, better games come out. There are really 2 markets for arcade games -- location, and home collector. For a vendor, once the game isn't bringing in any income, they'll dump it for (or convert it to) something that will bring in more quarters. So a game's value (at first) will be based off of how much money it will bring in on location.Originally Posted by Reid
The second value is the collector's market. This is a fickle market with no set prices that vary depending on location, region, time of year, and all other kinds of variables that I'm not sure anyone fully understands. It's pretty easy to look at two games and say "this one's worth more than that one", but you'll notice a lot of the "how much is game X worth" often give a couple hundred dollar range. I've seen Ms. Pac-Man games for for anywhere from $300-$800 last year.
Really the only answer to your question is, over time, the price will drop, unless it doesn't.
Thankyou so much Peale!! Thats is what I needed! Thanks!
I found my Gauntlet Legends machine there for only $295
