    Default PSone tech demo?

Is there a playstation one tech demo somewhere on the net? I know how most systems have tech demos before they come out to show what the hardware is capable of doing at full power.

There had to have been one during the time of the PS1.

I remember seeing of for the 32X on youtube.

I haven't been able to find one for the PS though.

the most famous tech demo for the ps1 was the T-Rex walking around on the screen. Back then it was as realistic as jurasic park, now it looks like garbage. There's a video link of it laying around here somewhere...

Oh yeah! I have one of those tech demo discs.

It's got the T-Rex that you can control and such. You can zoom in and out and make it roar and snarl.

Not to mention the disc has video playback demos and light source tests and etc.

How rare are these? I didn't think they were all that hard to find.....

CES from back then is way before my time, so i dunno if they did have a tech demo on display then.

The T-Rex demo was given out to the press shortly before the psx launch. I doubt there are many copies out there, unless it was on some sampler disc later.

    Other famous tech demo's:
    Dreamcast: Scud Race, Geist Force
    GameCube: 128 marios
Xbox: spinning cogs, malice (screenshots on my website from both of these), dolphin
    PS2: Ducks in a tub
PS3: Lots of ducks in a tub

There were two ways of getting that disc:

You got the stand alone one free (often referred to as the "Black Ice" and "Developer's Demo") from a seller when you pre-ordered the system. The CD had Sony music groups and verbal commercials you could listen to. ONce you got the deck, you could plop it in and check it out.

The other way was to purchase the Ridge Racer Pack-In Bundle (viewable here on the left), as Sony gave it away with the standard purple "Picks" Disc.

It's possible the demos on the Developer Disc were the CES demos, as they include FMV, textures, numer of items on screen, fmv on textures, and more...but...

Your CES demo reel question intrigues me...I have a new research plan ahead of me.
