I agree with this. Although I don't know Bonds personally, I can think of many people who are class acts and great players as well. Ken Griffey Jr. and Albert Pujols immediatly come to mind, as well as the up and coming Ryan Howard and Chase Utley (just plugging them, since they're on my home team...which totally blows).

There is no excuse for how Bonds acts towards other people. He seems like a mean spirited, nasty guy, and while he may have a hell of lot of baseball talent -- steroids or no -- when all is said and done, he doesn't really stack up to the rest of the guys.

That being said, there's been plenty of assholes who've played the game over the years, and really were damn great at playing the game to boot. Ty Cobb, anyone?

Ty Cobb and say Pete Rose both had their share of scandle and their share of antagonists. However they each also had a part of them which was liked. While they make be likened to a crime boss like Al Copone hated by some they were still interesting characters. Bonds can only be compared to a spoiled brat.

Barry Bonds is one of the greatest baseball players of all time. He is also possibly the biggest a-holes the game has ever seen. Steroids or not that is the main reason he is so disliked. This ball will probably go for a decent amount, but definitely not what it would go for if he embraced the fans. The steroid issue will definitely not help the situation, but his demeanor towards the fans and the game are the main reasons his stuff doesn't see the kind of dollars that the other greats see.
