Just a quick question. What are some of the good shmups for the saturn. I have Radiant sivergun, it's good( a little over rated), but good. I need more for my collection so any help will do.

In no particular order:
Soukyrugurentai
Layer Section
TwinBee Deluxue Pack
Parodius Deluxue Pack
Thunder Force 5
Sengoku Blaede
Battle Garegga
Kingdom Gradprix
That should keep you going for a while.
If you have a PSone, get Do/DonPachi for that. Otherwise, the Saturn versions will do ok.
I believe there's also a Gradius 2-Pack, unless that is somehow bundled in the Parodius pack.
You can also get Darius Gaiden, but it's mediocre at best.

Shienryu is a great Raiden-clone that's better than Raiden/Raiden II/Raiden DX in many ways. People seem pretty divided on it (well ok, most slam it for being too generic), but shit...Raiden was fairly generic, just well executed The predecessor (Daioh) and sequel (Shienryu Explosion) both suck, but my god did Shienryu just do everything right.
Along similar lines, Kyukyoku Tiger II from Takumi is pretty damn good (and with helicoptors)
Batsugun is a great milestone in shmup history and is worth looking into picking up.
Hyper Duel
Batsugun
Dodonpachi
Darius Gaiden and Galactic Attack are both awesome.
I'll just add, quite a number of those SAT titles also got ported or converted in the early era of the PS, often Japan only. A good number never got any other platform releases.

These are all the Saturn import SHMUPS that I own so far:
Assault Suit Leynos 2
Battle Garegga
Blast Wind
Guardian Force
Gun Frontier
Hyper Duel
Kingdom Grand Prix
Kyukyoku Tiger 2 Plus
Metal Black
Prikura Daisakusen
Skull Fang
Sol Divide
Sonic Wings Special
Strikers 1945
Strikers 1945 2
Thunder Force 5
Wolf Fang
Yes, I need Radiant Silvergun, but I still can't afford it yet!
Great system for shooter fans.
My top 3 goes:
Battle Garegga
Soukyugurentai
Galactic Attack
I appreciate RSG but am not a huge fan of it, playing and fun-wise. I think it is truly a piece of artistic beauty but not one I "understand fully" but I do understand its technical expertise, for sure. I just rather play a handful of other Saturn shmups.
Other good (underrated) shooters:
Cotton 2
Hyper Duel (Hyper Debt I like to call it, hehe, b/c it can hit $100)
Blast Wind (man, this went from $30 in 2003 to $85 in 2005)
Kyu. Tiger II
DoDonPachi
Strikers 1945 parts 1 and 2
Shienryu
etc. etc.
Here ya go... every shooter on the Saturn.

Thanks for indulging my gaming habit when I was young, Dad. You were the best. I miss you. ~David Barnes 1926-2007~
Part 2 was horrible on the Saturn. Believe it or not the PSX version of Part 2 was a lot better (it runs faster with little or no slowdown).Originally Posted by Steven
