Default An Embarassment of Riches or The Modest Closet Shelf of Doom

Moving time rapidly approaches Jorpholand, and it is time to pack everything up, including my big stack of PC games both new and old.

Even before I moved into my current place, a lot of my games had their boxes carefully flattened and stored away along with their jewel cases, while their discs and manuals were stored in my CD binder. Now it is time to do so again with my acquisitions from recent years.

But first, some photos, since I may never have such an impressive display again, modest though it may be in comparison to that of others. I really wish I had more time to actually play some of these, but at least I can take some solace that most of them didn't cost very much at all.

Thats an impressive collection of PC games. Not many people collect those around here. (Or so I believe)

Nice collection, Jorpho! It's cool to see pics of a PC collection here.

I used to have over a hundred PC games, and I've already started to collect again, one game at a time. Before I used to buy a game for what I believed was a good price and such, only to let it sit there and plummet in price a month or two later while I'm playing something else.

My first PC games and favorite game of all-time.

    Default hmmm...

How well is that Virtual PC working for you? I have been looking into getting that, though I wander if I should wait with Vista coming, could be compatibility issues...

Solid selection of titles there. Time constraints are horrible. Can I play all these games before I die? Nope. So which ones?

Heh. That's actually Virtual PC 2.1 for the Macintosh. It comes with a legal install CD for Windows 98, though, which is pretty nice. And it ought to run under Sheepshaver.

I sometimes regret that I did not pick up the $4 boxed Virtual PC upgrade I once saw, but at the time I never thought that this full-version 2.1 would fall into my hands.

By the way, Microsoft recently officially relased Virtual PC 2004 SP1 as freeware, though the debate rages as to whether it is superior to VMware (as VMware Server is also free now). Neither supports advanced 3D acceleration, anyway.

Or you can dream of immortality instead.

And a little while later, there are a few less sealed PC games in the world.

Such a nice shiny pile of boxes and discs and manuals. It actually makes me feel a little like playing some of them!

    Default hmmm..

I gave up on Virtual PC, went to DosBox. Works nicely do far. Can't get everything working though...

I bought some shiny games the other day too ($1.00 each). Mostly Lemmings games...might even play them...
