It's apart of the very unique Megaten series, which have both very deep gameplay and dark storylines. The series has grown a very strong cult following, which has resulted in the translations of the SNES games and are worth checking out so you can atleast get a feal for the series.Originally Posted by Kaine23

I own DD 1 + 2, and Nocturne but I've only played a little bit of Nocturne (lack of time, too many games) but what i played of Nocturne was pretty sweet. Very dark storyline.
Digital Devil Saga series is really good. IMO it was one of the best RPG series to come out last year.
The story is very unique and the setting is unlike any other RPG.
Without going too much into the story, I just want to definately reccommend it. It's a hard RPG. But it's worth it to put your time into it.
I played through Nocturne a little while back and it was a pretty damn HARD game. You really had to be on top of fusing demons and making them so they exploit the hell out of any weekness an enemy has. If you didn't have a perfect team against some boss they would rape your press turns and absolutely molest your weaknesses. The real final boss was pain and took me about three tries. It was an amazing RPG though, I had so much fun with it!
As for DDS 1 & 2, I have the first one and have been thinking about starting it. The only thing that already kind of disappointed me was I heard there's no fusion in that series which got me totally addicted to Nocturne. I'm glad I played Nocturne because it's defenitely got me interested in checking out Persona on PSX and well as the DDS games.
