Default Help with Syndicate and DOSBox

So for as long as I have been trying to get Syndicate to run properly, I have never been able to get all of the sound going (except for when I had a Gravis Ultrasound in my old DOS box). So when DOSBox starts, it appears to load both a soundblaster and an ultrasound. So is it emulating both cards? If so, do I just need to find and run SBOS and gus-synd.exe?

To be clear, I get music but no sound effects.

Wonky. Which version of Syndicate are you trying to play? Did you download it or do you have the original disks/cd?

With the Syndicate Plus cd, for whatever reason, it doesn't like it when I try to run it through the CD frontend, so I have to copy the Syndicat directory to my hard drive and run main.exe , but then the sound works fine without needing to tweak my dosbox.conf file.

I downloaded it from the underdogs, and it's the original disk version I believe. Perhaps if I get the CD version I will no longer have the problem.

    Thanks

I uploaded the a CloneCD rip (14.2 megs compressed) for you, if you want to give it a whirl

Thanks a lot man! I am giving it a try right now...

EDIT: Hey man, that worked like a charm. I owe you one! Tomorrow night will be official Soda and Syndicate night at Casa de Jibba.

OK now I can't save my game. I checked and the game files are not read-only.

    Suggestions?

If you've got the disc mounted, it's because it's trying to write back to the CD. Copy the Syndicat directory over to your virtal C: drive and you should be set.

Back when I got it, I had trouble running it on my 486. Running Synd.exe from the main directory would fire up the launcher and allowed me to pick Syndicate or American Revolt, but then it'd crash right afterwards. (it'd still make the C:\synd\ directory)

The folks on the underdogs forums were correct. I had to create a /SAVE folder.

    Thanks again!
