    Default SNES trouble...

I'll make this brief, and if it has been covered here just refer me to the existing thread.

My SNES seems to be having issues with Mode7 related stuff, namely when something is spinning and scaling at the same time. The games affected the most seem to be Pilotwings, Actraiser, Contra III and Axelay, although Pilotwings and Axelay are the only ones with gameplay related issues (the background is mostly gone in Pilotwings, no matter what stage, and any ships that have appendages made up of multiple sprites go nuts in Axelay). I have yet to check some of my other games, aside from F-Zero, which oddly has no problems that I've seen.

I've thought that it might be a dirt issue, but I figured I'd check here first. If more info is needed, I'll post it here later.

I have an SNES with really screwed up graphics kind of like that. It looked in really good condition cosmetically. I could never figure out the problem, but it's probably not anything easily repairable.

Perhaps some of the cartridge slot pins need to be bent back into place.

Thanks for the info, I'll give that a shot. Hopefully it'll work...

My recommendation, if you can do it, is to try the games in another SNES. The odds are against the second SNES having the exact same problem as the first. If they still screw up, then it's likely something with the games themselves.

I'm fortunate that a friend of mine has almost all the same consoles I do, so testing carts is easy for me.

I'd try that, but I don't have access to a second SNES at the moment. I also find it odd that all of the games I mentioned have worked perfectly for years on this particular system until now. Because of that, I'm leaning toward the problem being the system and not the games.

I was finally able to get ahold of a second SNES, and the games run fine on it, so it's definitely my system. Any other ideas?
