Default Check It Out - Great Program To Organize Your Library

I've been using this awesome application to keep my Books, DVD, VHS, CD and complete video games organized. It's called Delicious Library and it uses a nifty barcode scanner to read read the UPC code right of your boxes.

Once scanned in, you'll hear the computerized female voice repeat the title and it displays your collection on a 'virtual shelf' and gives you tons of information it downloaded using the barcode information; including a high-res image, retail price and current value!

It gets the information from the Amazon.com database and obtains the current value by looking for the lowest priced copy currently being sold, and given Amazon's typically high prices, I'd call that as close to accurate as can be expected by an application such as this. You can also reload the information on any title at any time. Also, it lets you upload your library and all associated info from each title to your iPod's 'Notes' folder.

Depending how often you loan your stuff out, it also acts like an actual library, and allows the user to "check out" items to borrowers and even assigns due dates.

Unfortunately, it's only available for Macintosh, but I have to say, it's one of the coolest ways to catalog your stuff.

how do you scan the barcodes? do you need one of those special scanners, or can it be done with a webcam?

It is done with a webcam. It's pretty neat, but with out the proper lighting it's sorta picky. I don't know if they have a windows version out... it's been out for the mac a while now though!

Yeah, it's been out on mac for a while, but the latest version supports the built-in webcam on the MacBooks. Usually, the screet itself provides ample lighting.

Interesting, but it's probably useless for me since I collect Japanese PS games. Unless you can tell it to get info from someplace other than Amazon.

Yeah, you can type the UPC code, or search by title.

You could take a look at a Media Man. I bought it, and I love it.

Do I'm guessing you have to collect boxes and near complete to take advantage of this?

Does anyone have a file for a complete n64 collection for media man?

It would be way easier to do my collection like that.

Amazon barely has jack shit to look up.

Since Media Man can get info from amazon.jp, I'm going to try the evaluation version to see how it goes. Last time I checked they still had quite a few PS titles there, although they were almost all from other sellers.

I think you may struggle to find such lists for Media Man, I'm afraid. I don't believe enough people use it, and cataloging games is just part of the software. Sorry.

Last week, I went through my 800+ games and added box shots for about 80-90% of them. It took absolutely ages, but it was totally worth it!

Media Man really is an excellent piece of software. It is very cheap (I shouldn't admit this... but it is one of the few programs I have actually bought!), and you're entitled to free upgrades for life. I believe a new version is currently in the works, due for release sometime next month.

I love how it looks, but i'm still sticking with Game Collector.

    Can it output HTML?

Media Man is a pretty good program - out of my entire Japanese PS collection the only one it couldn't find was Bakumatsu Roman SNK Best. It even found rarities like Gaia Seed, Salamander Deluxe Pack and Ningyo no Rakuin. Most of them didn't have pictures, but that's more Amazon's fault than the program's. I'm seriously thinking about paying to register it once the trial period is up.
