Default Getting 100% on Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

Well, after beating this game for the 10th time in as many years, I'm finally sitting down and taking the time to get a score of 100 on every level.

.....good GOD. This might be the most challenging Mario game I've played (next to Super Camera Angle 64, anyway) how many of y'all have accomplished this mighty task?

IIRC, it's possible to get more than 100%.

I've finished it completely a few times.

The only stages that took me FOREVER to get 100% were Kamek's Revenge (World 5), Tap-Tap the Red Nose's Fortress (World 6), and Keep Moving!! (World 6). There were some other stages that were hard but these are the worst IMO.

I still have my 100% complete save from years ago. Everything is 100%, even the secret stages.

Ah, I remember those times in my parents basement, swearing at that green bastard dinosaur as I kept missing that one lone red coin, or getting hit by a boss right when I was about to finish him. It took three months of solid playing (and two weeks of that was on the secret level in World 5... you know, the one with the damn skies and helicoptor bubbles? Damn) but I finally got all six stars on the title screen.

My wife got 100% on both the SNES and GBA versions.

I, on the other hand, could never do that

Aye, I managed that not so long ago. Sadly, there is no reward for it on the SNES version whatsoever! Makes me want to try again with the GBA version.

I agree with pseudonym that Kamek's Revenge is probably the toughest level, though The Cave of Fire and Ice (World 6) and Hit That Switch!! (World 2) are next on my list. Still, it's all quite doable in the end.

Can't wait for that DS sequel.

I did it once back in '95 when I first got the game... and I'll be ding-danged if I EVER try it again either. Some of those levels (most already mentioned) made me wanna blast through my wall head-first. Fun game... VERY well designed... but I've only played it through the one time... and luckily managed to get 100%... cuz I knew I'd never pick it up again if I didn't do it the first time through.

I'd like to play it again someday... but I sure ain't gonna try for perfect scores. I recommend doing it just to say you have... but don't ever bother again unless you just like punishing yourself... or showing off.

I've done it twice on the SNES. Kamek's Revenge is definitely a bitch - took me forever to get 100% both times.

Other than that, some of the World 6 levels were tough, but even those seemed like a cakewalk after I finally managed to get 100% on Kamek's Revenge.

I just got the GBA version when it was added to the Player's Choice library, and it's been a few years since the second run, so sooner or later I'm going to go for a third run on the GBA version.

It's very hard to do 100%, but not impossible. I've done it with my girlfriend in summer 1995. It took about a week of intense playing, and the last levels were SOOOO hard And just after that, my f*ck*** sister-in-law erased my savegame on the cartridge, because "when I begin a new game, I love to save on slot 1"
