Default Sega Saturn - Gale Racer, how rare sealed?

Gale Racer is, of course, a reworked port of the arcade game Rad Mobile. It's also the only home conversion of this (in my opinion) overlooked game. I don't need to go into the differences between the original arcade game and the Saturn port, instead I have a simple question about this game itself, not its content.

I've read around this was the third game that Sega released for the platform in Japan. I'd guess that this game was never all that popular, in the arcades or on the Saturn. I've seen the game here and there over the years but I was wondering how hard to come by a sealed copy of this game would be to obtain. I'm not looking for an esitmated price or anything, just curious how hard it would be to come by factory sealed.

Haven't looked lately, but I'd see them every now and again on Yahoo Japan. I'd say it's more on the level of the "bargain bin" type games and those are the ones you can usually find sealed. imho of course.

BTW, my buddies and I really liked Rad Mobile in the arcade. One of the first Saturn games I bought way back when too.

I remember this game got DREADFUL reviews when it first came out... must have been the developer's lack of familiarity programming on the Saturn.
Thanks for indulging my gaming habit when I was young, Dad. You were the best. I miss you. ~David Barnes 1926-2007~

Naa, it's because they took a sprite based game and shoved a bunch of polygons into it. All the rival and drone cars are polygons and there are CG sequences that break up the gameplay. The CG is very nicely done however the point of the game was a non-stop trans-American speed race. It's not that bad but think of Daytona USA (Saturn version) level of detail cars driving through a sprite based game.

Ahh, Sonic Team (if I'm correct here) in their earliest days.

It's still the only home port of Rad Mobile.

It took a long time for a factory sealed one to show up on ebay when I was looking for it... about 2 years... but once it finally showed up, it was dirt cheap... so I guess it's not all that rare, but it is alot harder to find it factory sealed...

Then again Ebay isn't the only place that sells games. The internet provides so many other options.

It's a really common game over here in Japan, usually sells for the $2-$4 range in stores, or close to whatever minimum prices the store has for Saturn CDs. I've actually sold a few through my Saturn store so people seem to like it, moreso than any of the "regular" driving games.

Sealed Saturn games are still common enough that they don't get much more of a higher price.
    Thanks,
    Eric
