Default Game Doctor SF7 floppy drive--won't stop spinning!

In this thread I wrote about how the floppy drive in my SF7 kept giving me errors

    http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=91645

So I finally replaced the floppy drive and it no longer gives me errors, but whenever I try to format or write to a disk, the drive just spins forever (and it doesn't even write the file to disk!). Anybody know what's wrong?

    Thanks!

Can it read files? Maybe the ribbon connector was put in backwards.

Looks like the cable is in right. The red stripe (power side) of the cable is facing the side where the power cables go onto the board.

I just can't figure this one out. Are there any jumpers or something on floppy drives you ever have to adjust like a hard drive?

If you are looking straight at the back of the floppy drive where you can see the pins, the red stripe should be on the left. It's backwards from conventional ide.

    D'oh.

Ok, I'll give it a shot. , that so has to be the problem. What a dumb thing to do from an engineering perspective. Those funny pirates, I tell ya. Yaaar!

All floppy drives are like that, not just copiers. The one in my computer is hooked up like that also.

Wait, hold on a sec, just to make sure we are being clear.

If I am looking down on the top of the GDSF7 with, say, the disk drive slot facing me (not the back of the drive), which way does the red stripe face on the drive, and which way on the board?

    Thanks again.

It would be to your right, closer to the power connector.

Since you gd7 is going to be open, might as well jumper s1 and s3. It turns off auto-boot and defaults the language to english.

Crap, the red stripe is indeed facing right from the top down (faces right on the drive and the board). Sucks...Can't get this sumbitch to work right.
