Favorite Donkey Kong Country game.

Of the DOnkey Kong Country trilogy, which one is your fav and is the most polished and perfect of the series?

(I apologize if this topic was done before, I couldn't find an older topic of just the DKC games)

I love them all, but I feel that DKC2 is the best. It's got the most creative level design (both in how they look and how they play), it's challenging, has the best music, and the graphics are better than the original (and fairly on par with DKC3). And even though Donkey Kong is fun to play just because he's a legend, I think Diddy and Dixie make the best pair when it comed to versatility.

Donkey Kong Country 3 for me. The third time really is the charm. DKC 2 is my least favorite, but still pretty good. I have all three on the SNES and I even have the GBA ports of 1 and 2, and plan to get the GBA port of 3 whenever I find a copy priced as cheaply as I got the other two. I think they did a pretty good job with the GBA ports; imo, the presentation is similar to that of a special-edition DVD.

The GBC port was interesting tech-wise, but since the GBA port was released, there's really no reason to play it.

DKC1 for me, it has a fantastic atmosphere, I just like all the scenes. One of the very best video games ever for me (says one who doesn't care for 16 bit consoles usually)

i misread the topic and was about to go on a nice long rant about how much i love Donkey Kong 94 on the Gameboy.

...then i realized this was about donkey kong country. in which case, it's the first one for me. my girlfriend and i were actually just playing this game earlier in the week. i've played a bit of 2 and 3, but never to completion... then again, i never had 2 or 3 when i was a kid, but i did have the first one, so nostalgia might be a factor there too.

anyway, long story short.... DKC1 \m/

I had to vote for DKC 3... I loved that game... I played DKC 1 and 2 lots, but the level design and challenges that DKC 3 had, made it more fun for me... I will say that the helicopter spin of Kiddy was part of the fun for me.

It was a tough choice though.. I loved played all 3 tons... My wife likes 2 more than 3 but hey it's my vote and DKC 3 is the best SNES game ever in my opinion.

My order would go:

Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 3
Donkey Kong Country 2

All three fo the games are good but the first one is just a classic and I will never get tired of it. It probably has something to do with the fact that when I was a kid, I only owned number one and never had the priveledge of playing the other two.

I find Donkey Kong Country 2 reallllly hard. This summer I tried playing through it and I got to one of the last worlds and the levels were really getting crazy. It's still good, but I just found myself so frustrated in the later stages of that game.

DKC 1 is the best. You can't go wrong with DONKEY KONG!
I never could get into 2 & 3 like I did 1. I still remember carrying my
SNES to school in my backpack and hooking it up in the computer lab
to play DKC. Even the teacher was impressed by that game.
Regardless of what the kid in Billy Madison said, Donkey Kong does

Yeah has to be DKC1 since you actually get to play as Donkey Kong. Well sorta since its cranky kong is suppose to be the original. At least he has the same name and looks like him.

I prefer the first one...partly because it actually has Donkey Kong in it but I just love the game overall. I actually managed to beat it, too. I also find DKC2 pretty hard. I've not tried DKC3 yet...guess I'll have to try it soon. I was kind of holding off on it until I beat the 2nd one but...

Wow. I can't decide on just one; I like all three. I found the first one as the easiest and the second one as the hardest though.

Some of those bonus stages were near impossible to find without a guide, same for the DK coins. But I still kept playing and playing, and that's when you know a game is fun.

DKC didn't have bonus coins, DK coins, lost worlds or anything. Thusly, it was very short. DKC2 had the best level design, and the Dixie was way better than Donkey's slow ass.

no question about it ~ Donkey Kong Country 2, the best out if whole trilogy, has still one of my very favorite soundtracks of all time.
