Default PC Engine Flash Card Questions

Has anybody here used this PCE flash card? I'm interested in picking one up, but I have only seen one review for it so far. Also, I'm wondering if it works on a US TG16 console. And finally, if this is in fact a good card as the one review ststes, would anybody be interested in doing a group buy?

Under "what PC-E console can be support" it shows a picture of a TG-16. 64M sounds a little smallish though. You may find yourself reflashing it quite a bit.

That particular flash cart can be used on either TG-16 (US based) or PC-E and all the other Japanese variations. It allows you to select the system when you flash the card, so no converter is necessary. 64mbit isn't bad for a PC-E flash cart, but obviously you can't fit many games on this. Back in the day, it was done with systems like the MGD1 and MGD2 with 8m of RAM if you were lucky. One game at a time.

So will this let you play a game not for your region of console? Ie would it play a JPN game on USA hardware?

Yep. If I recall, the difference between the TG16 and PC-E variants is that the data lines are swapped, so basically you just reverse the bits in the ROM to get a TG16 game to play on a PC-E. This can easily be accomplished when the system flashes the card.

Eight of the pins on the card between the regions are swapped.

Yep, the 8 data lines. Not sure why companies ever bother with such silly things as they are easily defeated.
