Default I wonder what happened to Star Trek for the 3DO?

Does anybody remember Spectrum Holobyte's Star Trek: The Next Generation for the 3DO? I remember seeing the games in magazines and stuff, and it seemed like the game was definitely coming out. In one magazine, the editors got to play a early build of the game, and they really liked it alot. But it ultimately just dissapeared into the mist.

I guess just chalk it up as another game that was never meant to be.

No mention of it in 3DO Game Secrets 2 which has 8 or 9 pages of previews (and half of those games never came out). I don't recall seeing TNG in any of the numerous catalogs I have either. I do remember the PC game though.

Here's a link to the preview scanned from EGM:

I recall the game being mentioned in EGM a few other times, but always with some of these same screenshots, so I would assume that everything here was promotional material from Spectrum Holobyte which ultimately says nothing about how far along in development the game was. It could be anywhere from a bunch totally non-interactive SGI renders that weren't even running on the 3DO hardware to a semi-playable alpha on the the 3DO itself. I tend to think it was more the former.

Another 3DO game, I wondered what happen to, was Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. In 96' it was announced, 3 months later, nothing. I remember I even had the UMK3 promo baseball cap and CD with a calender on it
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!

The game featured there is Future's End - which ended up beign released on SNES and PC. If the game had come out on 3DO, I suspect it probably would've been identical to the PC version.

The game featured there is more interesting. That looks like it would've been an exclusive 3DO development that we never ended up seeing.

It looked very promising from the time, judging by those renders.

It looks a lot like Final Unity that I think I have somewhere for the PC.

IT was never released because Star Trek is about the future and in the future they all use RGB.
