Default No game-specific friend codes for Wii.

*FYI: Sorry if this was posted already, I didn't see it on the front page, and the search feature is really slow.*

Well, at least according to n-europe .

No individual friend codes for games on the Wii!

Nintendo Europe have confirmed on their Wii microsite that the Wii won't have specific friend codes for gamers to connect titles online. The fact the DS has seperate codes for each game has arguably been seen unfavourably among Nintendo fans, compared to having one user code which stays constant whatever game you're playing.

Well, I would assume that it would be the same for US and Japan. I'm excited.

What the, It's just like sony's PS2 Online junk, A seperate profile for each game? Wha?

And while i'm here what kind of storage devices are coming out for the wii? Just memory cards? There had better be some 1 gig cards so i can fill them up with retro gaming goodness.

It's got two USB ports, so you can just plug in whatever storage units you feel like (Jumpdrive, etc.)

So does this mean we will have a seperate file for ecah game we play online? I'd rather have a profile for the whole lot myself.

From what I read, I thought one console profile. That's it. I could be wrong, though.

Yeah, that article is supposedly confirming that you won't have game specific friend codes.

What the hell, it's pretty blatant.

It's saying that unlike the DS, which has game specific friend codes, the Wii is going to have one code that just goes for all games.

This was sort of hinted at back a couple weeks when Nintendo talked about how VC games would be linked to your account, so you could access them on another Wii if yours got destroyed. Good to see confirmation, though.

There is already a way to tie the friend codes to a "My Nintendo" account. Hopefully we can use this consistent screen name in place of a code.
