    Default The Goonies by Datasoft

Ahhh, my favorite game for the Atari 400 / 800 / XL / XE computer. Tonight I managed to pass a stage I never could before. It's the one with the boulders... dropping down that eventually hit the bell that releases all those bats. It's the 4th screen, and man, it took a long time to figure out the way to finish it. Now I got to figure out the 5th screen, the one with the giant skull. Anyone want to give me some pointers? I'd appreciate it, thanks.

Bumping this 7 year old thread. Apparently nobody had played this game back then. Perhaps now?

I never did figure out how to finish this game. I still think it's the most faithful video game adaptation of the film. They were really creative with this one, even including a stage with the octopus that was a deleted scene.

I have a copy of this game that I have played, but not nearly long enough. I will need to replay this one.

I beat it for the C64 back in id say 2001. I was in 8th grade and it was the first C64 game I had on tape to try.

The skull was annoying, that is all I remember. The pirate ship is another kick in the nuts too.

I finished it on A8 like in 1989 or so. Great game, but I don't remember half of it to tell you the thruth. Datasoft had an excellent range of XL games way back.

I didnt like the game to be honest. The music was OK at best.......

the FC/MSX ones were more fun. More action, better controls, more game in general.

not Goonies II though. I didn't really like that as much. It was like arcade more "gotta think about stuff". It was still alot more fun than the Datasoft one.

I LOVED this game back in the C-64 days... I had a *ahem* 'demo copy' *cough*, and apparently the disc had a bad sector on it, so every time I would reach a certain level, it would be half garbage and I could never finish it (level 3 or 4 I think).

YEARS later I got a copy off the internet to use with an emulator (a few years ago), and managed to finish it for the first time! I was so happy!

I'd have to play it again to remember the moves, but as people have pointed out, there's walk throughs on the internet... Gotta love that.

Goonies, Spelunker, Below the Root and Jumpman... I love playing to the end of any of them, even now...
