Got an Xbox 360!

After much reading/comparing I finally decided to buy a 360 even with the PS3 and Wii coming out next month.

I have to say this is my favorite system since Dreamcast.

I been downloading demos and "Lost Planet" is by far my favorite. This game is just mindblowing period.

I'm extremely impressed with the system and very glad I bought one it kicks ass and has much to offer.

Dare I say i'm giddy. It's been a while, hehe.

I got my 360 on Friday. Bloomin' marvelous.

I've spent most of my time playing demos. Most of the technology is really impressive, like the controllers. Being able to turn the console off and on from the controller seems a really novel idea. However, the draw distance isn't all that amazing. I've noticed on a few demos, some of the far away stuff comes into view in about the same distance as some "current gen" games.

I would have been happy with Dead Rising if I hadn't forgotten about it being HDTV-only. The text is barely readable on my SDTV but by the time I've nearly worked out what it says, it's on the next window of text. Apart from that and the distance between game saves, it's a very fun game.

This is the first console I've bought new since the PS2, on Thursday the 13th of December 2001. This one was on Friday the 13th of October.

Try the VGA cable. It's a much cheaper alternative to buying an HDTV, and it looks a hell of a lot better, frankly.

I love my 360, but it looks like Im gonna have to purchase a TV that supports HDTV...since some of the games force you to do that (i.e. Dead Rising)

No way. $100 for the VGA cables and a cheap KVM, or $400+ for a new TV? ;-) I went with the VGA cables approach since I'm a cheap twat like that.

It stands for Keyboard/Video/Mouse (I think). It's basically a switch that'll let you jump back and forth between two or more sources on one monitor. The alternative would be to manually reconnect your monitor to your PC and 360 as necessary (I got sick of that real fast).

Or you can be lucky like myself and have an 16:9 monitor that supports both DVI and VGA.
