Default are there any Tiger handheld beat 'em ups?

its difficult to judge these games because of the presentation. do any of these games have side-scrolling gameplay where you punch or slash a bunch of enemies until you come across a boss? i noticed they have stuff like double dragon, and the a-team. however, i don't want to jump the gun and add incorrect games to my database without getting feedback on the mechanics.

I always thought that was the mainstay of Tiger handhelds unless the license involved a vehicle or sport. Double Dragon for sure fits the criteria, Castlevania II was similar, only instead of punching/kicking you used a whip from what I recall.

I know when I was younger I had a hand held of TMNT, it was a side scroller beat em' up. I think it was one of the taller, Ultra games.

I remember there being at least 3 TMNT beat-em-up handhelds. The original had the artwork from the TMNT NES box. Other than those, I don't know of any...but there has to be a few more.

Double Dragon II is the best of this kind by far. You move forward, it has pits and traps to jump over, projectiles to dodge. I mean it's not much in the big scheme of things since it's a Tiger LCD handheld game but it's easily my favorite of them all.

Man I miss being able to edit.

Anyways you move from left to right. You can punch, kick behind you, crouch, and jump up, and jump forward. No bosses though, you beat up a bunch of guys and make your way to the exit. Later levels have projectile spitting statues at various heights you need to jump over/crouch under to avoid. As well as a greater frequency of pits to jump over. Of the ones I've played, it probably feels the most like a full game.

I thought there was bosses in DD...or just an enemy at the end of each level that took twice as many hits or something. I do remember beating it...I was very excited, because I remember thinking level 4 with the stalactites falling was impossible until I found a cheat....if you jump extremely fast you like you have rapid fire you can avoid them...only managed to do it once and never went back. It was pretty exhausting. Come to think of it, I don't remember if that was DD1 or 2.

It's got the Konami logo in the dead center of the artwork on the CP. I don't recall seeing any handhelds from the series with the Ultra logo, be they released in Japan, England, or here. Goes for the C/Contra (JP) handhelds for sure as well.

Another Tiger beat 'em up was Batman. Had batarangs but also punches and kicks as memory serves.

The regular DD handheld doesn't have any stalactites, as far as I can see. Must be DD2. Heck, I'll have to put some batteries in these and mess around with them again to make sure

DD definately had stalgtites, I cant remember if its level 3 or 4, but they are in there. Hit the little test button that makes all the different frames light up at once... you'll see them.
