What's the big deal about this.. Is this only if you're selling stuff on ebay? And if so, are ebay listings usually much more than 20cents?

Imagine being able to list a $1000 Buy It Now item. For 20 cents.

So yeah. :P I'm gonna list some things I got today.

The higher the start price, the more they charge. The 20 cent day is great savings for expensive stuff.

Even the basic fees for anything over 99 cents start at 35 cents (as I remember), so even cheapy auctions are nearly half-off the listing fee.

Sweet! Thanks you're awesome man otherwise I would have missed it! I got some items I would like to end at least around $30 but honestly if I started it at 99 cents might be had for very cheap considering the level of competition for my items (or lack thereof)

Never sold on Ebay? You get charged a listing fee, which is generally 35 cents or above. Sniderman already said that. However, this goes up significantly if you want to "dress" up your listing with subtitles, bold print or better placement in search results. Little extras like that drive up the cost. All of this stuff doubles if you want to list this same item in more than one category for people who just want to shop by preselected categories. So a very basic listing might be 35 cents and if you are not careful, you could easily run up a solid $2 listing fee by running some damn item that might sell for under 10-20 bucks.

When your item sells, though, Ebay charges you a certain percentage. Get your payment by Paypal and they charge you a fee, too. So the typical Paypal user ends up getting charged on three different occasions to sell a product on Ebay. Some sellers choose to make up for these charges by inflating their shipping costs a little bit, hence the "gouging" you see on some auctions. So in the end, both the buyer and seller suffer.

Simply put, a 20 cent listing day from Ebay is a good thing.
