I can't tell you the differences but I'd imagine the PS version lacks some frames of animation. The Saturn port is just about, if not perfect. I prefer playing the Saturn version of D3 vs. the Dreamcast version.

Yeah I have noticed that even if the Sega system is technically not better than its competitors the 2D fighting games always come out better on them. The biggest example that pops into my head would be Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 for the DC as compared to the PS2 and Xbox
Looking to buy any Criterion movies that I don't already have.

Well, MvsC2 was developed for Naomi which is basically a Dreamcast. PS2 and Xbox are certainly capable of replicating Naomi graphics. It's really up to the developers.

As far as CPS2 to Saturn and PS ports, the Saturn usually received a more accurate translation mostly due to the 4Meg RAM cart.

I was a big fan of X-Men: Children of the Atom on Saturn. I sold my Saturn (mistake, I know) and bought the game on the PS1 when it came out about a year later. The PS1 version was comparatively horrible and I took it back the same day. When the Saturn did sprite based 2d games, they seemed to always look and play better than their PS1 counterparts.

The Saturn version requires the memory expansion cart like most of the later Capcom fighters. It allows for almost all of the original arcade animations, unlike the PSX version.

The Saturn version has some incompatibilities with some of the aftermarket ram cart/convertor combos so keep that in mind.

The Saturn game is in Japanese but you can enter a cheat to change the text to English. Go to the EX options screen, beat the game without continuing. Next, go to the title screen, highlight OPTION, then hold L + R and press START. If you did it right you'll enter a new option screen which enables RGB, life bar type, and best of all, english/japanese language select. This will put all the text (endings, winning quotes) into english.

I'd hate to say it but I own own the PS version... *boo hiss* But it's really not that bad. I'll need to import the Saturn title one day.

I can say that the saturn version is a very smooth and well worth the money to import it. Another way to get it is import the ps2 version which has all 5 Darkstalkers games on one disk and they play almost arcade perfect
