Default USB DataLink for Sega Saturn

    Hello,

I have created a device which enables you to transfer game-saves between a Sega Saturn and a PC via the USB port. You can also use this device to develop homebrew games. I am currently offering this device from my website http://www.GamingEnterprisesInc.com.

If anyone is interested, just shoot me an email from the link on my site.

I've actually had a tab open to your website since InsertCredit ran a blurb about it. I'm seriously considering dropping the chunk of change just so that I'll never lose my Saturn save games again (which has happened a few times too many ).

The price is pretty darn reasonable, too.

That site has uploaded saves on it. I believe a community site for them however, or public access to uploading saves for GamingEnterprises would be good too.

Wow! Pretty kickass device, man. Glad someone finally came up with a good way to do it!

Didn't someone once come up with a PSX DexDrive-like device for the parallel port consisting primarily of a modified PC floppy cable? I'd have figured something like that would be available for the Saturn.

I am finally able to offer a kit version of the USB device, for those that can solder, and want to save a few bucks.

Who hosts your website? I can't access it from work and they have an exclusive block so generally I can visit most websites.

Ahh, nothing like an extremely late response

I used to have AOL host my web pages (because it was basically free). But I have finally dropped them for a "real" hosting site. The last straw was when AOL added banners to the top of all my pages!

Anyway, there should be no problems with access any longer. Plus I now have a lot more space, so I can make some improvements when I get time.

Can this be used to do the other functions of the old ISA card? I always assumed they could be used to mass-upload cheats to the card, and how about using this on the playstation / n64 ones? Very neat device either way, but if it can do the other ones too, ie effectively replace the old card completely, I'd definetly want one!

I am hoping to add extra functions as I get time.

One thing I have been working on is a transfer speed increase (for the homebrew folks). I have made a small speed improvement to the DataLink device (it is now 25% faster for homebrew downloads). Unfortunately though, the firmware must be updated to get this speed improvement.

I have also built up a few more units (with the new firmware) which are available for sale.

If anyone's interested, I can be contacted through the website (http://www.GamingEnterprisesInc.com).

Default Saturn USB DataLink - final rev

I have completed the final hardware/firmware revision of the Saturn USB DataLink. I have been able to double the transfer speed of the device (without using compression) and keep the cost at $50.

I have updated my webpage with information on the new version. It is explained on the Software page (http://www.gamingenterprisesinc.com/...reUpdates.html). Now, the User Manual for the new software may be downloaded. Also, the protocol document may be downloaded, for anyone wishing to write their own PC software.

If anyone has a previous version DataLink (green led) which they would like updated, I can do this for free, as long as shipping (both ways) is paid for.
