    Default Microsoft is retarded.

So I have to return my 360 back to them for replacement because it keeps throwing 3 red lights.

I follow the included instructions on how to pack it and such.

Step 7 says, "Close the box and seal it with the seal." which is included.
Step 8 "Place the return label directly on top of the previous shipping label."

    Blah blah.

There are about 6" worth of pictures in the middle of the page for all the steps. At the very bottom of the page a full 6 inches from the rest of the steps it has a place for me to put my name, service request number, and serial number and to put that in the box.

Now how the hell am I supposed to do that since I just sealed the damn thing per your instructions?

Jesus what a bunch of retards.

Funny that they sent you a box. I had to send mine in my own box and ship it at my expense. It was replaced under warranty and shipped back to me at their cost. So I guess I agree, retarded.

I think it's pretty retarded that you would have to pay anything for them to fix something that is their screw up to begin with. People have already payed a nice chunk of change for the system, now on top of that you want me to pay for sending the console back to you so you can fix something that should have been taken care of prior to releasing it? r-e-t-a-r-d-e-d! It's why I don't own a 360, never owned an xbox and probably never will. I don't care much for MS.

You do realize that Nintendo and Sony probably have the same policy regarding repairs and returns?

No. Sony does. But not Nintendo. Nintendo will repair/replace a manufacturer-mistake in their Gamecubes or Wii's for free. Nintendo has excellent customer service.

This is worse in Australia they will send you all the paper work and stickers to send
the console back to them but keep forgetting to include the box to send it back in,
sometimes you get it sometimes you dont.

For sony though you walk down to your local post office and it gets packaged up
    and sent away.

Take all the extended warranties you've purchased.
Add up the total dollars spent. ($25 here, $35 over there, et cetera).
The total amount spend on EWs would exceed the cost of just buying (or repairing) an X360.

That's why I stopped buying Service Plans. They actually end up costing more than just replacing, or repairing, the broken gadget. I've saved thousands of dollars by NOT buying service plans.

service plans are a scam. It's how the stores make money. Trust me, I used to work at 2 of those big retailers and they would try and get you to push service plans like they were going out of style.

I remember reading somewhere that 90% of those extended warranty plans sold go unused, so I usually just pass on them unless it's something big (like my new iMac).

    Ha ha!

This reminds me of an incident that happened to me in 2nd grade.
The teacher handed out a full sheet of instructions, as well as a blank piece of paper. She then said "Make sure to read all of the directions before you start."

So I take a cursory glance at the first five or six instructions. Okay. Then I start.

    Step 1. Draw a circle.
Step 2. Draw a box outside of the circle.
Step 3. Draw three lines inside of the circle, not touching the edges.
Step 4. Draw a letter "A" to the right side of the box.

    (etc.)

so on and so forth. By the time you get to step 26, you have an intricate, if strange, piece of art. Step 27 says "Ignore steps 1-26. Do not mark your paper."

It was all a trick to see if you would follow directions (ie; "Read ALL of the directions before you start.") I felt like a total dipshit with all of that nonsense all over my paper.

I'm about ready to throw my 360 in the garbage, or ebay it as a parts console.

Worked fine for 10 months, had MAYBE 50-60 hours of use on it, popped in PDZ to play it since I hadn't in a while, it went to install the software update, the screen went black, the DVD drive made a huge *CRUNCH*, and the smell of burnt electronics filled the immediate area. 3 more returns on bad re-furbs later, going through all the hoops to get my XBLA games back on a new tag everytime, etc.

FORGET IT. Either I'm going to smash it spectacularly when it gets back, or unload it at gamestop or something. I've never had a console break, other than my launch DC that stopped reading controller ports for some reason.

I thought it was a bunch of malarkey too. I mean, if I went by the horror stories on the internet, PS1's and 2's would have burned my house down and raped my dog or something, so I usually take such things with a grain of salt.

But in this case...I'd say the hype is warranted.

Out of the 7 friends of mine who have 360's, they've all had to send them back at least once. Mine was the lone hold-out, and now this.

    No thanks.
