Default Dracula X: Castlevania Chronicles headed to PSP

    http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3156904

This game was ONLY released in Japan, and the critically acclaimed Symphony of the Night was the sequel to this game!

But thats not all! The contents of the package are as follows:

    Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles
Remake of Dracula X: Rondo of Blood in 3D.
    Original version of the classic.
AND a port of Syphony of the Night

    Angry

NO! Oh for the love of....this makes me angry...I can't remember the name, but wasn't Konami very hardass about porting this game? Yet PSP gets it??? Why not PS2? Why can't a console handle this instead of a portable?

I dont want to buy a PSP again..
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!

I agree this should have come out on console. Anyhow, this is awesome news, and now there's actually a good reason (my opinion of course) to buy a PSP.

Er, weren't Castlevania Chronicles, Dracula X, and Rondo of Blood ultimately three very different games?

Wow, nice collection. Konami's releasing some nice compilations for the PSP. But as others have said, I wish they had released this for the PS2 or something.

Hee hee...If this thing comes with some sort of special preorder bundle, I might actually buy that and actually make money off it this time.

Seriously, it's fucking Rondo. I've had that game, twice.

Also, the 3D version seems to look like shit. And what the hell is up with Maria's owl eyes?

@ Jorpho: Chronicles has nothing to do with the other two; it's a port of my very own favorite X68000 game (which I own twice, so it goes without saying that I like it a bit). Dracula X was known as Dracula XX in Japan. It seems like a port of Rondo to the SNES but with completely new levels and graphics in them. Other than that, seems quite similar.

I need to say it now. I have had one since launch and intend to keep it for its meager exclusives, but the PSP kinda sucks. The D-pad is terrible, the screen has a poor refresh rate, and it is uncomfortable to hold. The 3D capabilities are incredibly cool, but graphics aren't everything. This game should be on the PS2, but then again, the polygonal remake of Rondo would probably not stand up quite so well graphically on the big screen

That said, I still wholeheartedly welcome this. The 2.5D Rondo is a nice bonus for everyone. Capcom's Mega Man remakes were good enough, and the G'NG game is pretty decent. This certainly will not be as bad as Gradius Gaiden only being available on the PSP in the US. Castlevania will be easier with the D-pad than a horizonally scrolling shoot 'em up.

I tickled that Rondo is finally getting a release here, even though it should have been a Chronicles Vol. 2 on the PSOne, and its audience is not necessarily found in the PSP user base. I am interested to see if they leave in the German voiceover for the intro. I can play it on my Duo if I want the real deal, but this will suffice for those who haven't taken the plunge. I didn't get Drac X as an investment per se anyway. I just wanted to play it. Not that rereleases have seriously bitten into the aftermarket. A Radiant Silvergun rerelease might shave $100 off that going price though, but I digress...

This is going to be fantastic. Too bad it will probably not be met with all that much success in the sales numbers.

I've got a PSP, so now I can own a legitimate copy of the original game without having to kill my wallet dead for the Duo original (though that burned copy I have is looking mighty fine to pull out and play again).

Pass i'll stick to my original on my duo-r.

Beside it seems like, Konami was too lazy to put out a real castlevania collection in the frist place.

Not to mention i'm sick of seeing any 2d castlevania on a handhelds.

Realy when will konami get the "hint 2d castlevania belongs on the consoles.

    Hmm.

From the 1up preview, the 2.5 remake is in "pre-beta" form, which kinda makes passing judgment on it from the vids difficult.

Can't say I cared much for the whole 3D game style panning of the hidden plant enemy and all, but I guess that would be it.

Seeing as how Sony publically said at a press conference at the last E3 that SOTN could only come out on PSP unless it had a 3D remake (a meeting Igarashi left early due to this statement) I find this announcement somewhat ironic, seeing as how SOTN isn't getting the remake on this collection and is being treated as a bonus.

If we have to have a (possibly) questionable 2.5D remake to get Rondo released over here, so be it I guess. I just hope they give the original a widescreen mode.
