Oddly enough, the C64 port is dead on to the arcade which is really, really odd. It plays pretty damn well.

It's not dead-on to the arcade if it doesn't include the team-up super moves.

I have some vague recollection of Marge using her purse as a weapon in the PC version instead of a vacuum, but it appears I am mistaken.

ya the multiplayer super moves are really what made the game stand out.

Oh sorry, it's been 15+ years, I don't remember if it has super moves or not

I always have to play the game at least once when I see it, ironically I just played it about a week ago.

Thinking about how this game, or the X-Men arcade 4player BEU never came out on SNES depresses me somewhat :P

Add Vendetta to the list. What a fuggin' game...

I love the game, and had many fond memories of it, but play it on MAME sometime, and keep track of how many "quarters" you keep putting in. It really was designed to do nothing more than suck down money.

Calling it a "button masher" or "unbalanced" is being polite.

Indeed, trying to one-credit this game is not feasible, is it?

I was inspired to look at what Gamefaqs has on file for this game; apparently the original Japanese version was substantially easier.

I think it's an appropriate time for a 15-year bump. There's TWO Simpsons arcade ports currently being homebrewed! One is by bitinkstudios on the NES of all things, while the other is by Ray Castello of Turtle Bit Software, for the SEGA Genesis. bitinkstudios are no slouch, having developed NES Assets Workshop tool, and previously remastering NES Ghostbusters as well as some other NES hacks.

ah bummer i was hoping you were going to come up with some re release for modern systems like the cowabunga collection.

i think currently you need to try and get lucky finding an xbox360 with it already pre installed or get one of those arcade 1up "machines"
i do see people selling the mainboards alone on ebay so that might be an option too i guess...

but if you any thing like me you probably dont want anything to do with 360's and fake arcades

My 360 is modded so I have it on there, same as the TMNT arcade. I can play both on MAME for that matter. I'm intrigued by these projects because The Simpsons was a game I always wanted to have ported 30 years ago, but it wasn't. So seeing what some talented homebrewers can do is quite the cool what-if.

It's really neat that the game is being ported to the Genesis and NES, so far they do look pretty good. I do wonder if the games will be completed or if they'll get a cease and desist from the rights holder. This isn't a new homebrew game and isn't merely a translation patch, talking about the project well before completion is pretty risky. It's not like it's an abandoned property that's almost forgotten today.

I wouldn't mind an arcade perfect port being made available somewhere, really a PS2 port would have been perfect. I remember playing the original cabinet years ago, the first time I can remember being around 1994. It's really a fun game though clearly designed to milk quarters.
