Default Total importing "noob" wants your input - Nintendo DS

Is this thing even region free? I've been browsing eBay and I got conflicting info. I am interested in importing a Mahjong game from japan because I found the version on Clubhouse games to be lacking, and I thought that the DS would be the perfect platform to play some Mahjong. And to go further, does anybody have any reccomendations?

Yes it is region free. All handheld devices that I know of are. (GB, GBC, GBA, DS, NGPC, etc)

Be careful when purchasing Mahjong games. The Mahjong game on Clubhouse Games is actually Mahjong Solotaire and totally different than what you are going to find on most Mahjong titles. You want the single player "Match two tiles" type gameplay, correct? As far as I know, the only DS title released with Mahjong Solotaire is Shanghai by Sunsoft(Japan only).

@ UndeadKing - thanks for the information. I did not like the version on Clubhouse Games at all - I wanted "regular" mahjong, like the windows version from the 90s or one of the billion flash games. I was looking at Mahjong Haoh DS Special or Professional Mahjong DS. I've never imported anything ever so I'm sort of in the dark

    DS is region-free
There is a game released called Shanghai which i didn't find too great - i much preferred the version that was on the old DP forums arcade. I think the tiles are too small and there are far too many modes.
